United Kingdom Which film to buy?

I've asked this earlier but I decided to make a new thread here. If it's too much(), mods can remove this.

Recommend a film(s) under £17 delivered. Region free or B.

I was thinking about Metropolis(MoC) or Flags of Our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima-box but please suggest something you might feel I need absolutely in my collection.

Thanks.

You've got a nice collection it has to be said.

I'd personally recommend Sweeney Todd. Especially considering you can pick up the Steelbook thesedays for around £5. Perfect!

I've done that a few times before but as I've only got about £17 available I don't like to spend half of it just for shipping.

That's nice to hear, thanks!

I love Burton films but I might want to rent that first.

Have you seen Metropolis? I've seen the various versions about a dozen times. It's a masterpiece and everything but it took me three goes to get through it. That was with the commentaries on as well. Good documentary though.

Sweeny Todd was okay but I wouldn't want to see it again.

No I've never seen it and I think it would also be my first silent film experience. But my wishlist is huge so if there's something you or others find...

It was free with my player I felt obligated to watch it. It didn't seem to have a plot unless you paid attention to the singing. I don't get musicals!

Yes but it's US version, region free though. Quite a bad transfer so I might want to wait a while...

I was looking for something interesting like Slither (a horror comedy) or The Nines (can't say which genre it will spoil it!) but I can't find releases. Moon is pretty good!

I find it to be a really great story, and one of Helena Bonham Carter's best performances in recent years, of course it helps that she's got a brilliant voice though!

As I say, when you can pick up the Steelbook for £5-6 thesedays, it's certainly worth giving it a chance - it's definitely a love or hate movie from all the reactions over the years. I'm firmly in the love side of the reception, and who knows, Kruger, you might be too upon seeing it, especially if you're a Burton fan as you say. Bit pointless renting it for a few quid when it's so cheap to buy nowadays, if you don't enjoy it, just sell it and you'll probably make your money back, which puts you in a better position than just renting it!

EDIT: Another one I'd recommend since it doesn't appear to be in your collection is The Social Network. A truly enthralling film, albeit somewhat dramatised, but I'd still strongly recommend it, as will I'm sure many others. It's got quite a good batch of special features too which is always lovely.

Heh that's what I've heard.

That Planet Earth is one pound over my budget lol. I've managed to find something else..

1. The Crazies(2010) - I'm really interested in this as it has the original film too.

2. Sunshine
3. Moon

I could afford Crazies and one of those two others. Which one do you feel is better?

Out of those two, definitely Moon. Unless you've decided on The Crazies and one of those other two, I looked through your wish list and would recommend Monsters, Inc and Alice in Wonderland. Both are great films, have stunning transfers, and are in the Disney BOGOF promotion.

I just thought my horror and Sci-Fi collections need updating.

Has anyone here seen Crazies? Opinions?

I'm also thinking about Fargo, Gladiator, The Leopard(BFI) and White Ribbon.

edit. Where's that Disney promotion at? Amazon?
