Default sub advice

SO I bought a Paradigm PDR-8 for really cheap and it turns out the sub is blown so I have two options I can get a replacement 8 inch sub and just swap it out or I can build a complete new sub and go a little bigger and just use the paradigm amp. In my setup I already have the Polk psw-10 and I have the Paradigm monitor 9 towers. What would you guys recommend.

well you could ask your local dealer what the cost of a new driver would be, or look at ID companies like Hsu, SVS, elemental Designs, and Outlaw.

If you choose to replace the Driver. Here is a good aluminum Dayton subwoofer. I have the 10" - 12" - 15" in my subs.

yeah I am actually leaning towards just replacing the sub itself I just wasn't sure if the 8 inch would be worth it or not, I have read where some people hate 8 inch subs and some people like them

Hsu reasearch makes the stf-1 which is a pretty good 8" sub, And REL makes the T5. The thing with 8" subs, is that they typically can't dig as deep as say a 10" or 12" sub or have have the chest thump. The Hsu is rated to 32 hz, and the REL is in the upper to mid 20's. both of which are very good 8" subs although the REL is almost double the price, but it connects in a different fashion that helps the sub blend into the mains better then most subs.

elemental Designs, Hsu, SVS, Outlaw, Emotiva, Chase and Lava subs all have great subs at good prices. Look them over and see what looks like a sub you want, and Im sure all the owners of them can give you their impressions of their subs.

Let me throw one more Idea out there, I have been reading up on bass shakers and I am now leaning towards using the amp from this paradigm to run some bass shakers

Shaking things up is always good

Hear are some good Transducers by Clark from the same place as the last link. I have the TST209

The one above it is a bigger shaker (silver) I have been told it is way more then enough.

awesome, thanks for the link I was just reading about the one you bought in the official bass shaker thread. My couch is one with the recliners on each side, do you think if i mount this in the middle the two sides would feel it or would I need two one for each side

I am planning on adding 1 or 2 more in the future because it just isn't enough for my couch. If you get more then one you will need to get another amp because I don't think that plate amp from the sub will drive 2 of them.
