I felt like watching that one again so I go get it in my collection and aaack its not even anamorphic

and just looks horrible on my HDTV. So I ended up going in he bedroom and looking at it on a regular 30"TV

I've had this DVD since it was first released years ago and I'm wondering if anyone heard anything from Buena Vista on this title? I'm usually pretty much up to date, but I'm hoping I missed an announcement somewhere.

I love this film and the soundtrack is amazing.

This and TO SIR WITH LOVE are my all-time favorite teacher movies and I think I prefer this one a little bit more.

Great performances by Dreyfuss, Headley and the young actress Jean Louisa Kelly. I loved how he got dragged into the gig "kicking and screaming" and at the end it was the only thing he wanted to do. You cannot watch that film without sheding a tear!

Yes, the DVD is absolutely horrible and deserved a new transfer. Let's hope by the time it hits BD that it will receive an excellent transfer!

not yet, but this movie deserve blu treat. I liked the movie, i knew the actor who was holland's son.
Nice guy, and he was lucky to be in this movie. I would buy this movie for sure!!

I agree, I own this movie on DVD. I was surprised to discover that it was not anamorphic a few months ago when I slipped it into the DVD player.

I also liked this movie because of acceptance and adapting having a Deaf member in the family and left him who he was born and did not change him to be musical as mr holland had hoped for. THIS IS A RESPECTFUL movie in Deaf community. Im sure BANJO will agree with me

I want this movie to be on BD but I think it won't appear until after 2009, I think. Since it's a BVHE movie, hopefully the transfer and the sound will be top notch.

Pretty much, I doubt I will ever own it since my collection is already huge and it's a movie I wouldn't find myself watching a lot.

Necro a super old thread, but over a decade later since the last post and we still haven't seen anything about this title yet.

German Blu is crazy expensive now, and the AUS seems to be out of print or unavailable.

Good thing I managed to get the Australian Blu-ray in time. That and the laserdisc I found at a thrift store in my hometown will tide me over until a 4k UHD disc comes out.

Our class watched this in the theater as a kid and I thought it was kind of boring then. But I got it when it was on sale on Vudu and would like to check it out again.

This is a highly underrated movie, and I personally think its one of Richard Dreyfuss' best. He was surrounded by a great supporting cast too, including Glenne Headly, Jay Thomas, Alicia Witt, Terrence Howard, Olympia Dukakis, and William H. Macy. I really hope that Disney releases this soon, since it was originally made under their Hollywood Pictures banner.
