Default Attack! (1956) Kino Lorber

Didn't see a post for this one. One of the best war films of the 50's and a great companion piece to PATHS OF GLORY. I would highly suggest seeking this film out and the Kino Lorber release is top notch. The PQ looked great.

Not sure if anyone else had this issue. On the spine the KL logo is missing. This is the first release I've gotten from them that had it missing. Anyone else have that issue?

My post from the KL thread:

Attack! is a visceral and searing anti-war drama that features many themes that would show up the following year in Kubrick's more-heralded Paths of Glory.

Jack Palance and Eddie Albert are superb here, and it's always great to have Lee Marvin around (him and Palance never missed together, as they would go on to do The Professionals and Monte Walsh.)

Aldrich was truly an underrated talent, and his name belongs with the likes of Hawks, Siegel, Sturges, Peckinpah and Hill as one of the best directors of "guy movies".

Can't wait to revisit this one via Kino's Blu-ray, whenever I get around to picking it up.

DVD Beaver review

I saw this on film at a local repertory theater and on the MGM DVD, but never in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio like this Blu-ray if I remember right. But
the compositions here look perfectly alright so I guess this was yet another case of mid-50s widescreen movies that often (rightfully or wrongfully) "opened up" according to the environment. Really looking forward to this new Blu-ray. I like Robert Aldrich's other war films like Ten Seconds to Hell, The Dirty Dozen and Too Late the Hero, but this is hands down the most gut-wrenching of them all.

Great movie I remember seeing it as a kid in the 70s and I've had the dvd for years. I got the blu-ray last week but didn't get to watch yet. Nothing like Jack Palance with a hand grenade!

Watched it earlier this year (TCM?)...great cast and quite the ending! Worth a pick-up in a future sale.

No logo on mine either. I was also disappointed there was nothing besides the disc inside. Maybe a small book with some behind the scene stuff.

Interesting. I'm guessing it was a misprint or something of that nature.

Thanks for this, I will make sure to grab this as soon as possible, sounds great, I will certainly never complain about having Marvin or Palance on my screen
