Default Jane Got A Gun (western - Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, Joel Edgerton)

Padme, Obi-Wan, and Owen Lars... It's a Star Wars reunion!

This film has had all sorts of problems getting into production. The first director quit the night before filming began, and Ewan is just now stepping in to the revolving door role as the villain, replacing Bradley Cooper, who replaced Jude Law, who replaced Joel Edgerton (who moved to the good guy role instead). Got all that? The film is also being produced in part by Portman. Here's the latest:
Quote:
The resilient indie Western Jane Got A Gun finally has its bad guy. Ewan McGregor is negotiating to play the pivotal role of the leader of an outlaw gang in the film that Gavin O’Connor (Warrior, Miracle) is now directing. Natalie Portman plays the wife of an outlaw (Noah Emmerich) who leaves that gang after he gets shot up, and returns home. Knowing his former outlaw mates will come to finish him off and destroy her farm, Jane is forced to rekindle a relationship with a past love (Joel Edgerton), a capable gunman who can help her. This is the role that Jude Law originally was going to play, but he exited when original director Lynne Ramsay abruptly left the night before production began. After O’Connor came on to replace Ramsay behind the camera, they got Bradley Cooper to play the part, but his schedule is so impossibly busy — particularly after shooting got postponed on the David O Russell-directed American Hustle because of the Boston Marathon bombing and subsequent city lockdown — that Cooper had to drop out. This was OK because the villain wasn’t scheduled to shoot until later into the production.

They should pull a Palindromes and have a different actor play the villain in every other scene he appears.

Seriously though, I'm down for this flick. Ewan McGregor seems like a good choice for replacement. It's surprising he's the third choice for the role because it seems much better than Law and Cooper.

Cool plot, director, and cast. And great to see another Western being made with a female lead.

Other than Trainspotting, Ewan McGregor has yet to impress me. I haven't seen the Impossible yet.

Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton are amazing though.

Hopefully the director does a good job. Not really his kind of movie.

He is a great choice. Has he ever played a villain before? I guess one version of him was sort of a villain in The Island, and I think Haywire, but this will be his first real featured villain role I think.

and I agree it'll be nice to see a female-fronted Western. I guess to get them made, women have to produce them themselves!

I was only interested in this when Fassbender was involved... not any more, but I do increasingly wonder how it'll turn out with every news story I see about it..

I am highly interested.

Love a good western with a good cast. Not sure about Ewan in all honesty but Portman and Edgerton is good and the director from, Warrior ( A movie i thought was awesome) is great too.

Hope Portman doesn't play more than the damsel in need and/or Love interest though and has more of a Sharon stone from Quick and the dead role

With all the behind-the-scenes drama, Portman will have to hire Lucas to CGI the whole thing. Human actors cause too many problems.

Jude came in when Fassbender left, but I believe Fassbender was in the good guy role to Edgerton's villain. When Fassbender left Edgerton swapped over to the good guy and they brought in Jude for the villain... I think. I could be wrong. I've lost track.

Star Wars Episode 3.5, aka Jane Got a Gun, is now set to open August 29, 2014.
Quote:
Relativity has dated the resilient Natalie Portman-starrer for August 29. Gavin Connor directs the indie Western following Lynne Ramsay’s controversial exit in Marc.
The film centers on Jane Hammond (Portman) who is forced to defend her home against a group of outlaws. Noah Emmerich, Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton co-star.*Jane Got A Gun*will face off against *Universal’s thriller*The Loft*and Lionsgate’s horror pic*Jessabelle.

might be interesting but how will they explain the blasters and lightsabers? and more importantly, will Sam Jackson appear in a cameo!

Now they need to replace Joel Edgerton with Hayden Christensen.

It's been removed from its August 29 date and is now just TBA.

This was actually one of the summer movies I was most intrigued by. Great cast, and will be great to see all of them in a western - especially one featuring a female lead.

This had a lot of potential, but all the problems with preproduction isn't a good sign.

Wow, no action on this front for a while. Anyway, its newest release date is September 4, 2015. Sick of waiting for this one!
