List of Blu-rays with different versions - Blu-ray Forum

Is there a list of Blu-rays out there which include either a director's cut or some other version of the movie? Sometimes I'm on the fence if I should purchase a Blu-ray format of a movie I may have a copy in dvd. If the Blu-ray offered another version of the movie that would certainly make me more inclined to purchase something I already own.

Watchmen had a directors cut and then that was followed by the Ultimate Cut set. Can't think of many more titles that have come out with one blu-ray supporting a version of a movie then later released a 2nd blu ray offering a new cut, dvd is another story lol.

The blu-rays of Alien Vs Predator,Big, Riddick films, Terminator 2 Skynet Edition, Terminator Salvation, Big, Sucker Punch, included both the theatrical and directors cut.

As far as movies solely offering a new cut to their dvd counter parts I can't really think of any at least that haven't already been made available to us like Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Hellboy and Natural Born Killers.

Alien and Aliens both included another version, but I was going to purchase those Blu-rays regardless, that was just gravy. I'm on a budget now and have wasted, according to my wife, plenty of money on about 2,000 dvd movies. So it has to be some big improvement for me to get the Blu-ray or some other glaring reason. So that was my original question if there was list of Blu-rays with other versions so I could use that as an excuse!

It would be kind of nice if such a list exists, but I have never seen one. It sucks going through your entire collection and researching every individual title to see if you should upgrade and making sure the Blu-rays don't exclude any special features too. I did have more than a few that I have upgraded to get different cuts. Mostly I did so, because many of my DVDs were single disc cheapo versions and I hated double dipping even to get extended cuts back then. Sin City, Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider and Dark City were movies I liked, but never bothered to buy the Director's/Extended editions on DVD. So when I got the Blu-rays it was nice to see the new and improved versions of these. There should also be a list that includes all the titles that have an extended version on DVD that is not available on Blu-ray like Fantastic Four, The Punisher, Ultraviolet and the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe so you don't accidentally upgrade to Blu-ray and lose a version in the process.
