Default Mortal Kombat Canada vs Mortal Kombat U.S.? Which is the better release?

Mortal Kombat Canada vs Mortal Kombat U.S.? Which is the better release? I loved Mortal Kombat when it came out so I'm wondering what the best Blu Ray in terms of video quality is best.

Warner Bros. is distributing Mortal Kombat in both the US and Canada. They should be the exact same transfer.

Alliance distributes New Line titles in Canada. They also released Mortal Kombat months ago so it used to be a Canadian exclusive release.

Alliance is 1080i/60hz with Dolby Digital 5.1 lossy audio. No extras.

Warner is 1080p/24f with DTS-HD MA 5.1 lossless audio. Includes the animated short film, two trailers, and PSN code for Jade's Klassic Kostume.

On here it says Warner Bros. distributes it in Canada...

Either way, with the specs you just provided gives the OP an easy choice.

To be honest, I don't see this movie ever looking much better.

In general, the visuals look tacky and always have. The movie never did look that good.

I expected a little bit more from the audio than a 2.5/5 though...

Don't have the Blu-Ray to give my own opinion on it though.

Alliance no longer holds the rights to the Mortal Kombat films in Canada. Same goes for the Nightmare on Elm Street series & many other New Line titles. Its odd, I know, but Warner/New Line IS releasing the new discs in both USA & Canada.

Anyways, I had the Alliance discs a while back, & thought the transfers were merely so-so, & the audio was crappy for the 1st, & good for the 2nd film.

I don't believe I have a BD in my collection that has PQ of 3.0 and AQ of 2.5 so this is a double whammy.

I can watch and still enjoy it with the DVD. Not worth it for me personally to get this BD when the quality isn't very good. I don't think I have watched the movie in the last year so that speaks about this movie not having very high replay value for me.

Maybe perhaps for $5.00 used or new in the bargain bin and less than $10!

The quality isn't really that bad. It's much better than the DVD since that was non-animorphic. It's perfect in terms of representing the original print. There's a bit of dirt here and there, but overall, it's much more enjoyable than the DVD. The audio is great too!

I find your comment absurd because the DVD is non-anamorphic. If anything I bought the BD because it is anamorphic and is marginally better than the DVD in terms of PQ and AQ.
