I have been putting off watching this one for a few weeks as I only saw about 30 minutes of it with an ex when it hit the movies and well, I didn't want to bring up bad memories... soo.. anyway that was so not related to the point but I digress I can go on a tangent from time to time.. anyway.. as I was typing: I put in the disc and notice it takes a minute or two to start up (not literally!). But finally it does. Being the hardheaded SOB that I am and never watching any extras I wanted to see what extras where on this disc which caused my disc to load slower.
So there is feature on there called the Underground Experience and said screw it (actually a tad worse but I thought I would censor myself) and it's the movie with PIP. So, being the astute mind (fooled ya'll didn't I?) that I am I began to wonder.. First- why do I even care about this crap? but secondly I thought that BD could not do this PIP crap. Is not that what everyone has been saying? What gives? Anyway, back to the movie.. and I hope I don't remember HER when I watch it. |

I doubt I'll dig the movie.. but I guess I was just surprised that the PIP thing worked is all. Considering that is what is being blasted about blu the fact they cant do PIP.

I believe the PiP on The Descent is a second encode of the movie with the PiP overlayed. So essentially there are two versions of the movie on the disc. True PiP is being able to overlay just the PiP content over the already encoded movie. That's what HD DVD can do right now, and BD will be getting very soon with Profile 1.1 players.
As for the movie, I was really surprised by it. It takes literally 50 minutes to get into it and then *bam* you are freaked out till the credits. |
