Default Bad news, but could be good. TV related.

Well, my rear projection Philips TV took a crap today. I turned it on, 30 minutes later, I hear a sound, then my convergence is all off. I can only corect it so much. If only I had 3D glasses.

That sucks, however, if it is too costly to fix, I might be in the market for a new TV soon. So, I may have about $2000 for a TV. I will probably be going through DELL as that is where my $2000 is coming from. I need your help determining what would be good to get.

They have a Sony Bravia that looks good, but it is a little too much right now. Here is what they have that I could get...

Philips 42PFL7422D 42 - $1499.99
Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 -$1399.99

Sony Bravia W-Series KDL-40W3000 40 - $2299.99
This would be nice.

Philips 47PFL7422D/37 47 - $1999.99
Sharp Aquos LC-46D62U 46 -$1999.99

Good luck! I hope you won't have color banding issues with it like many others have had with theirs.

The prices seem really high! The Bravia at Future Shop (in Canadian $) is $1999... And they recently had it on sale for $1800...

The Sharp ones are nice, I had a bit of a tough time to decide between them and the Bravia when I bought mine.

Yeah, I hope I don't have issues with it either. I was going to go with the 42 inch Aquos, but my wife said do the 46 inch one. Cool. My current one is a Philips 60 rear projection HDTV. It was about 5 years old. So I guess that I shouldn't be too upset. I was just hoping it would last till next year, when I wanted to buy a new TV. CC was selling them for more than that. Either way, I am happy to be getting a new TV.

You should have gone with the Philips LCD tv. That's what I bought by parents about 3 months ago and its picture looks great. Even with standard def tv. Forget about watching Blu-rays on it, it is off the chart. You would have saved a lot of money too.

The one I got them is this:

Although I paid $1400 and not $1700.
