Batman Begins takes place before The Dark Knight and it lays out all of the characters rather nicely. It's worth owning just as much as The Dark Knight IMHO.

Agreed.

It actually surprises me greatly that so many people saw the sequel, without seeing the first. Maybe it's just me?

If you haven't seen Batman Begins, then I suggest you get that. Plus the steelbook is very nice.

I prefer Batman Begins to dark knight for a few reasons. The pacing is better and there is more to the 'story'.

The Dark Knight is awesome because of Joker but BB is very enjoyable as well.

BB is definitely the more satisfying story for me. I liked the structure much better than TDK, which is basically "Joker comes to town and creates havoc". BB is a much more involving story imo.

I dont care much for Maggie, TDK would have been alot better with Katie Holmes me thinks.

Don't you mean Batman 7? You're acting like Batman The Movie starring Adam West never existed.
Norway didn't get the memo that Batman Begins was a reboot?

Default Dark Knight easily...

I love both films and can't wait for the third. Now having said that, Dark Knight blows away Batman Begins. Better story, writing, acting and just one of the best movies I have ever seen. Batman Begins is a really good movie, while Dark Knight is a masterpiece of modern film-making.

Yes, you should get Batman Begins. I can watch it pretty much any day, but I can only tolerate The Dark Knight a couple of times in a year. I don't know why, but I think someone mentioned it already - it's the pacing. Heath Ledger was brilliant, but TDK was a tad bit overrated IMO.

Batman Begins is a must own. It is one of the best comic book movies out there. I tend to think of BB as the story of Batman, and TDK as the story of Joker.

what the hell! did i just accidentally fall back into 2005 / 2006? is the OP really asking if Batman Begins is any good? movie came out five years ago, did he hear nothing about it the last half decade?

to answer his question, which i find shocking that we're answering in 2011. yes, Batman Begins is good, very good at times. and should be seen. especially since it takes place before The Dark Knight.

and like others, i don't know why people watch sequels without seeing the film before it but to each their own. i could never do that. would drive me craaaaazy.

Batman Begins is better in my books because it doesn't rely on massive contrivances for the impossibilities of what the Joker does. I hate most comic book movies and the last excellent one I saw was Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Both films are excellent IMO but I'm one of the few who actually prefer Batman Begins over The Dark Knight. Batman Begins, more than any other Batman film, really explores the character of Bruce Wayne and what makes him tick. In The Dark Knight focus is shifted more to what the consequences of Bruce's actions lead to, but he doesn't really feel like the centerpiece of the story any longer, and it's back to the old "the villains are more interesting" formula that the 89-97 era of Batman films ushered in.
Like I said, both films are masterpieces of modern cinema, I just have my reasons as to why I prefer the first one.

Yep, you have to buy it.

I also kind of prefer it to The Dark Knight. It has a better pace, from start to finish. Where The Dark Knight builds up all the way to the Joker getting captured after flipping the truck, then you have another half hour or so after that to deal with.

Then again, I prefer the blue tint of The Dark Knight to the brown tint of Batman Begins.

It's like choosing which pizza you like best. There is no wrong choice.

Yeah, Batman Begins is great movie.

The Dark Night is better imo but BB is still good.

You have to own BB if you watch TDK, BB sets it all up. BB reboot the Batman franchise and it is what TDK is based on.
