Default Centre speaker :Louder than rest ?

I was wondering, Should the centre speaker be louder than the rest ? Centre generally only handles dialogue right and everything else is done on the other speakers.

Main reason I am asking is cause I was watching Aliens today, The Dialogue/talking seemed to be too low compared to everything else.

I know that is just one movie/piece of entertainment but it got me wondering

I will be reading a few of the Guide here but just figured I want ask too.

In general, the center should not be louder than the other channels. However, depending on where you place it, your room acoustics, and how a movie is mixed, adding a dB or two to the center may be helpful.

BIslander is correct, but it is also possible that a specific movie may be mixed with a weak center channel (or it may seem to be poorly mixed to an individual user). Many AVRs allow a user to temporarily adjust individual channels during a movie to correct for real or perceived audio problems, then they revert back to their standard setting after the AVR is cycled on/off. Therefore, I would generally recommend that the speakers all be set equal and use the temporary adjustment unless you have a consistent problem with the CC speaker.

Personally, I prefer my CC a decibel below the L/R.
