Question Alphabetical Order Question

For Death Proof and Planet Terror should I list those as (D) and (P) or should I list them under (G) for Grindhouse?

Thanks

When they're separate releases, I view them as separate movies and would, thus, file under "D" and "P".

But it is all about what YOU would find convenient.

FWIW I filed both of mine as separate movies.

Which also makes me think, why is HPatDHP1 before the Years 1-6 boxset?

I think it should be in numerical order, but that's just me.

Yep. I sort by the following categories:

Criterion
Eureka/Masters of Cinema + Artificial Eye
Kino
Classic (American) cinema (mostly golden age of Hollywood stuff)
Western
Historical/epic
War
British Film Institute
General Horror
Eurohorror + giallo
Science Fiction + creature flicks
Television series & box sets
Superheroes + fantasy
Animation
Cult, B-movies and exploitation cinema
Martial Arts
General Asian cinema
Crime
General/Miscalleneous (everything that doesn't fit in one of the other categories)

The title of the movie is Death Proof and is filed under "D". It is part of the Gridhouse double feature but the movie itself is "Death Proof".

Where would you put an action film like 007 or Bourne Identity , unless you don't own any action flicks

I file my movies by which girlfriend I watched them with.

(Only kidding)

I do sort of file them by genre: I keep music-related and documentaries separate from dramatic films. But within those, they're totally disorganized because I can find whatever I want pretty quickly, especially since many are boxed sets.

Yet for my CDs and vinyl, they're strictly organized alphabetically by artist (with compilations at the end) within major genre: Classical, Jazz & Blues, Rock/Pop/Folk and Misc.

I did that with my DVDS I would put bank robber movies together gang movies together etc. Then a friend came over and put them all in alphabetical order in a fit of rage (500+ movies) Ever since then it just seemed better in alphabetical order.

Once I have enough straight action flicks they'll probably get their own shelf. For now, they are spread over other categories such as Miscalleneous (Rambo, Commando, etc.) and my Asian action flicks are currently still on the General Asian shelf.

The advantage of sorting by genres and collections is that as your collection grows you'll be able to sort more and more specific, while handling an alphabetically organized collection becomes annoyingly time-consuming.

Would you put the Batman movies in alphabetical order or in the order they were released? Maybe I'm thinking to deep into this. I have tons of movies on the way.

I have a spot dedicated for horror (and other questionable titles!). I keep all my Blue underground and Arrow releases together, but the rest are arranged by their theatrical release date.

Same here. I see the titles as Grindhouse Presents ....

Then I have them in the order they ran in the theater.

Assuming you are asking me, I have them sorted in order of release. Alphabetical order doesn't make sense to me. When I'm in the mood for a gangster movie I'll just look at that section and see all the options available rather than having to wade through the whole library.

What's tons? You only list 29. What difference does it make as long as you can find them? If you have 1500 movies, they need to be organized. If you have 100, not so much. Don't be anal-compulsive like almost everyone else on this site (including me).

My daughter, who is a graphic designer, organizes the books on her shelves by the color of the binding. I think it's nuts, but I have to admit that it does look better.

I was big into BD movies last year and had over 200. My house was robbed and I lost them all. I have a lot of movies coming in from Amazon and I'm hitting BJ'S tomorrow as they have some really cheap movies. Hopefully I can reach 200 by Sept
