DEATH VALLEY is actually my most-anticipated of the upcoming Shout Factory lineup. It's the only film in the series that hasn't had an official release since the VHS days (that I know of), which makes the release a tad bit more exciting IMO. I remember very little about the film except that it had a "DUEL/HITCHER" kind of vibe to it.

I can't believe this is getting a blu upgrade.
I always stopped to watch it when I caught it on the old AMC, or TNT... whatever it was aired on. For the longest time I didn't even know what it was or realize that the kid in it is Ralphie from A Christmas Story. I only remembered that a vintage car kept showing up mysteriously, a little, blonde kid was scared to death as he became interested in the car, and it took place in the desert. It was very haunting even when seen in fragments here and there, and it may be worth it on blu if it's cleaned up properly. I'm interested. Last edited by Simple Lines; 08-23-2012 at 03:26 PM. |

This one had heavy rotation on HBO back in ~1983 or so... watched it a ton as a kid. It's long since removed, but someone uploaded a copy of their VHS to YouTube a couple of years back and I watched it again -- it still holds up pretty well.
Not an amazing flick or a classic or anything, but definitely not anything that deserved to become as obscure as it did. Glad to see it's getting a blu and I'll definitely be getting this to include in my Halloween movie marathons this year. |

i think the cover is awful! looks like a blow up doll! probably could live with it if the mouth wasn't open.

Boy, have I not seen this in a while. I remember it having a solid cast, a unique enough setting for a slasher film and some suspenseful bits. If anything, it's strange this has finally been released in a proper presentation before 1988's "Jack's Back," another staple of cable which boasts the director of "Road House" and James Spader in dual roles. |

Got mine in the mail this morning - not bad considering I'm in the UK right now. I can't wait to watch this tonight with the wife.

Special features are confined to 4 trailers (Theatrical and TV spot for the title, bonus trailers for The Island and They Live) and an informative director's commentary. Props again to Scream Factory for continuing to give proper due to these genre offerings, expanding on previous releases (Halloween II & III) or, as is the case with Death Valley, making them available for the first time in the digital marketplace. I haven't seen this one since it's early days on VHS in the UK and it's great to see it once again. |
