I'd rather have them release a longer USB cable so I can actually lie down while I game. The one the supplied was ridiculously short. Still, at least I can charge the controller when the console is off.

Now all we need is a first-party four-controller sized version.

HERE

OR

HERE

gotta love monoprice

$2.02 is all it costs for 15 feet

this was one of the 1st things i bought for my ps3, now-a-days i just keep my laptop in front of me and if need be i can charge thru the aptop and play.
or i plug in the controller and leave the ps3 on when i go to bed, it shuts off after 5 hours (the ps3)

but the cord is worth the price......it even works for digital cameras, camcorders etc

You do know that any Mini-B 5-pin type USB cable will recharge your DS3 controller, right? There's no need to overspend on a USB cable.

You can get a 10' or 15' cable at Monoprice for prices ranging from $1.46 - 2.02 each (link). Shipping is extra, but they use USPS Priority Mail, so orders should arrive within 2-3 days.

P.S. Looks like DonRSD beat me to it.

Almost any, at least. There are a few really cheap, unbranded cables that don't, but those are few and far between.

I will be picking this up keeping four controllers charged with my 2 USB cords is a real pain in the ass.

That one looks tacky.

The advantage of the official one (apart from matched styling) is the controllers drop in easily. Remains to be seen how intrusive the bit of plastic you leave on the controller is, though.

The pics are excellent at showing how those pieces will look on the controller. It's a nice looking charger, for those interested. The 15' USB cables I have are fine for my needs. I had so many extras that it would have been a waste to buy any charger. Plus, they've all been really ugly and cumbersome looking. This first party charger is the first one that looks somewhat decent, cosmetically. I noticed that's the same charger used for the PSP.

That looks sweet. I already own the Energizer one though so it'll be a no sale for me. The Energizer one is really great. I always prefer to have the official brand peripherals so if I hadn't already purchased the Energizer one I'd get this.

I believe there's 2 problems I've got with this:

1: I'm not American
2: I never buy online.

No it doesn't. It looks great and the glowing red is a nice touch. And it charges your headset at the same time. This new one doesn't. Either way, I'll stick with my USB cable.

Strange...I'm not sure if I have the exact one pictured (Energizer), but for me it's very easy to plug in controllers. Could be you have a defective product.

nope, there are few others that have the same complaints. i've gotten better at it, but i'd rather have one that doesn't require me to use two hands to plug in.
