bought mine for 19.99. sunuva....

anyways, a quick attempt on a review...

techs are simple, widescreen of course, audio flavors are either DTSMA or LPCM 2.0 channel...

sonics, i was very pleased with the way this blu-ray was done. nice. neat. not overwhelming, or added any stoopid spatiality effects (kinda like some concerts who has an audience 'clapping on cue' so to speak..)

im biased a bit, because ive been hunting down this concert for quite some time. growing up to this stuff makes me inclined to like it.

anyways, more technical material...

front stage heavy, using LCR quite efficiently, it doesnt blare at you at certain key instruments (for example, in Eagles Farewell tour, you can tell they boosted the levels up a bit for some of the trumpet scenes, that was good, but a little bit overdone)...

vocals heavy in the center. VERY well mixed. Surrounds only used for spatiality, again no special effects added on there (adding er... additional stuff like eagles once again - to clarify, i LOVE both eagles concerts, and have used them for quite sometime) ...

subwoofer action - hmm. lets put it this way. its not a club scene. no thump thump thump. no dig down dirty low frequencies, just very clean signals sent to my subwoofers. i liked it. did i want more? a tad i admit, but after thinking about it, I wouldnt believe stevie wonder wouldve appreciated it to be bass heavy, listening to classic songs as he performed.

Worth the purchase?

do you like vinyl?
familiar with the word musiquarium?
2 channel listening?

then yes.

a couple of songs missed, but he pretty much covered most material. just dont expect the entire roster ( i personally wouldve liked to hear 'dream you'd leave in summer' and 'do i do')... great blending amongst the track list.

ive also attended the concert at the Shoreline last year, and despite the sonic difference (different venue, different sound of course), the Shoreline had some pretty mean overlooking Altec horns, and flanked across and over the mainstage....

sidenote: can anyone see what the price is on bb for the dvd tho? i wanted to give it as a gift (sorry, im at work no access)

He still has it.

Yeah, it is surprising that this release was a little under the radar. I believe this was his first ever live concert recorded.

sir terrence, will await your findings, and hopefully, it concurs with my findings.

again, great performance, despite the age. the audio quality on this disc is 'reserved' so to speak. not reserved like in a bottle, but reserved like a single malt whiskey - no thrills, no additives, just simple, amazingly balanced music.

There are only a few musicians who have had a lasting impact on me over the last 40 years of my life. John Lennon was one, David Bowie is another as is Peter Grabriel and Eric Clapton (although the last 10 or so years have seemed like more of a farewell from greatness exercise from the hugely talented E.C.).

Stevie Wonder is another one of those musicians and I'm immensely pleased to discover this Blu-ray is now available. I could almost not care about the PQ as I will listen to this more than watch it. This man has such a way with words and vocal presentation that is unmatched by almost any other performer, including the aforementioned (although I'm rather partial to Mr. Gabriel's delivery of his writings).

Now that this disc is available, one can only hope some of the other artists in my first paragraph will get the Blu-ray treatment.
