Default Cinderella Diamond Edition - Spring 2012

The French release of The Lion King Blu-ray includes a trailer for Cinderella, which confirms that the classic animated film will soon be seeing a Blu-ray release sometime next year. The clip reveals that the 1950 animated feature will be getting Diamond Edition treatment, which will put it alongside other Diamond releases of Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and Lady and the Tramp (set for Spring 2012).

Cinderella, which is based on the Charles Perrault fairy tale, stands as the 12th feature from Disney Animation Studios. It premiered in March of 1950 and began a string of features that comprise the studio's "Silver Age". Cinderella was last treated to a 2-disc Special Edition DVD back in 2005.

While no release date has been set, it is safe to assume that Cinderella will make its Blu-ray debut sometime in 2012. It is unknown whether this trailer will also be included on the U.S. version of The Lion King. Dumbo is next in line for release from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, which will finally hit stores next month on September 20th.
