CEDIA 2011 - Any requests for personal observations of any home theater technology?

Once again as I do every year, I will be personally attending the CEDIA Expo in Indianapolis next week September 7-10, 2011.

I pretty much will be there for the entire show from Wednesday through Saturday.

This is the fall event for showcase all sort of home theater electronics, HDTVs 3D technology, front projectors, home theater, home audio etc.

I'd like to crowd source here some thoughts of what I should look for on the show floor.

I have a lot of events and meetings and to dos to manage but since I will be there for the entire event I can take some time for personal observations anyone might want.



If there is anything anyone would care to get my personal observations on at CEDIA 2011 or any specific trends or technology you would want to make sure I look at or booth I should stop in and see post here or PM me with details.



The more specific you can be the better and booth ID numbers or general or specific details are appreciated.

My posting next week will be limited as well but I will try to post up any responses here when I can.

Hi BlueShadow,

Thank you for offering to check out the latest in home theater tech at CEDIA this year. I was wondering if anyone is coming out with a 3D Blu-ray Mega Changer. I read in a thread on remotecentral.com that Sony may be coming out with one this fall, "CEDIA time". Sony already has a 400 Blu-ray Disc Mega Changer, model BDP-CX7000ES, but it is not 3D capable.

That's a major part of my to dos. I will see all that is there at the show in terms of front projectors.

I like Indy.

Except I am a hardcore Denver Broncos fan and Peyton Manning and the Colts killed my team in the playoffs for so many years it was hard walking into the old domed stadium there are times.

Goodbye Atlanta, hello Indianapolis. Thank goodness the new convention center there is finally built.

I like Indy for tradeshows. Its central for travel, rooms and restaurants are good and cheap for doing business after the show and its a lot easier to get around than Atlanta. The CEDIA shows in Denver a few years ago were fun too, but everyone I know loves the CEDIA show coming home to Indy.

They were actually planning to first have it in Atlanta for another year but by popular demand they moved it back to Indianapolis a year earlier than first planned. Its a good fit for the CEDIA show.


Thanks, I will have a good time there. I always do at big shows. Its not ass Vegas at CEDIA or somewhere in Florida but its a good place for relaxed business with old time industry and professional friends and fellow enthusiasts.

This is great that you are willing to take requests!!

1. USB 3.0 HD Webcam - All the current web cams are about a year old. Maybe those are more common in CES?

2. 4K TV's or Projectors - I noticed that the new Integra/Onkyo High-end receivers (Integra DTR-80.3 and Onkyo TX-NR5009 - same item mostly) have an upscale for 4K screens. I would LOVE to see double pixles on blu-ray.

At this point, am I the only one that cares more about 4K than about 3D?
I would rather have a sharper image then wear glasses and possibly get a headache.

Just checking in again.

Last day for the show floor. I have scheduled business meetings after lunch until about 2 pm EST and then I have a few more hours on the show floor free time until it closes today at 5:00 PM .

If there are any additional thoughts please post them up in the next couple hours.

I'll PM my observations or place them in this thread in the next day or so as appropriate.

Lots of good stuff here. The Sony and JVC 4K 3D projectors were impressive. I'll post more soon.
