I like the richness of the picture is has a glossy look, i am sure the brightness contrast dilemna is the unique setting of the persons computer, this is someone's screenshots. Wait till we get some more opinions.

I liked the songs in the movie, love Jazba, Aadat se Majbook and Thug Le, love watching the picturization of them, i just ordered my copy should be getting it in next few days. Really Really looking foreward to this blu ray, love the jori Anushka and Ranveer,

That explains the obsolete and redundant 'Dolby Digital 5.1' track. Even worse, that it is the 'Default Track'. I suppose, we should be happy and just count are blessings, that Yash Raj has not fallen for the Shemaroo philosophy of including logo watermarks.

PS: I have not viewed the disc myself and my comments are based on the opening post.

Why oh why include a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack? As Sanjay says, it is just completely redundant. Even worse, why make it the default soundtrack? Just about unforgivable doing that! Sorry chandra707, another ballsed up authoring job by Shameroo by my reckoning. Still, the PQ and Anushka make this an absolute dead cert buy!

Just looking at screenshots:
+ points
  • it appears to have a filmic image with white level under control (like that)
  • detail seems good
- points
  • There seems to be a problem with colour. Green and yellow seems slightly off. The effect is similar to Band Baaja Baraat. Shemaroo seems to be having problems with colour on almost all their BDs and apart from watermark this has been their only issue from what I have seen so far. Otherwise their authoring is quite good.
  • There seems to be some black crush - could be a gamma issue.
How is the movie? worth renting?

Can't be. It's a YRF film. But I suspect your family will arm-twist you into doing that anyway

You guessed right. Won't be able to help much as soon as it appears on Lovefilm. SWMBO controls the Indian list of our Lovefilm BD rentals. And with my parents here with us now, it is practically out of my control...

Its good that Shemaroo is authoring only for YRF. Please don't release your own titles because you idiots can't understand why yrf is not using logos.

Thanks for the heads up on the default audio track! I'm planning on renting this over the weekend and will have to remember to change it!

Is there another YRF release due sometime this year? Usually the release of a new film on BD coincides with the beginning of promotions for a new film or its theatrical release but I don't think there is anythign in the pipeline for some time?

I wonder if the same team has authored The Dirty Picture.

Good to know. A Dolby TrueHD track is infinitely better than a Dolby Digital track. Although, setting the Dolby TrueHD track as default, is still quite technically retarded, considering the presence of a DTS-HD MA track on the blu-ray. If for some reason YRF prefers Dolby TrueHD and had that as the only single track, I could understand. But, there is absolutely no sound logic, for including a Dolby TrueHD track when a DTS-HD MA track is already present. A Dolby TrueHD track offers absolutely no technical advantage or value for any category of user. Whereas a single, DTS-HD MA track is more than enough to cater to all users.

PS: Actually, the format is called 'Dolby TrueHD'. There is no format called 'Dolby Digital TrueHD'.

+1 to this and IMO these 2 tracks should never have been incorporated in a single blu-ray. if dolby digital track was there it would have taken(wasted) at most 500-600 mb which doesn't affects the PQ much but Dolby TrueHD would have wasted almost 5-6 gb of the disk for no reason! when DTS HD-MA track is already present why is the need for this... what next..the will even start including a PCM track as well! they are simply ticking all the options in the software

They could have used that space to include all the SD extras into the blu-ray, instead of cramming in another DVD.

Another stupid decision to include two similar HD tracks at the same time. I'd like to know who takes this kind of decisions? The studio or the authoring house?

Default Very NICE BLUE RAY

Watched all songs and portions of movie, nice job Yash Raj.

The movie contrast and colors are excellent, only the brightness is low off the box, i had to set it from 14 to 20 of my Mitsubishi diamond, and now it is perfect, Just have to push the brightness up little, and the picture is very detailed, and has a great punch to it, the colors are very nice, so is the detail

The dts sound tract is stellar, lots of great sound front speakers, dolby digital 5.1 tract is not as loud and bold. The dts is very loud and priistine, comes out at you.

Loved this movie , love the blu ray even more , Nice job watched all the songs 3 times already.
