Default Is my receiver set up wrong? or is it my speakers?

*** Ok that is the last time I do a long post on the forum while on my tablet... none of what I said makes sense and I am missing part of my sentence. lol I sounds like I was drinking when i wrote it let me retry this.....

Well last night I finally came to the realization that it may be time to start upgrading my speakers. After getting pretty far in our theater room build I now have a really good area to watch movies on. We set up my receiver and used the mic to calibrate my speakers (running only the 5.1 for now). Running DTS-HD I put in King Kong and set it to the scene "Disarming Kong" where they are on the mountain ledge and also the "T-Rex Battle" It sounded amazing, so crisp and clean with good deep low freq bass, When he would growl you could feel it in your chest. I was very impressed with the way it sounded.

Next I put in The Fast and the Furious, set the scene when they drag race at the end. On my old receiver (non HD Audio as my HDMI ports did not work sot it was decoding in normal DTS) that scene was amazing. I watched it on our new setup and everything sound flat. The sound quality is not good and sounds "lacking" and the sub sounds very weak. I may not have something set up correctly but it may also be my speakers as they are somewhat aged, My question is does this sound like something you have had issues with where some movies sounds flat, maybe the mix isnt very good on the Blu Ray disc? And I am going to be looking to upgrade my from speakers soon starting with my front Left and Right, Anyone have any suggestions as to a decent tower speaker for the front? Please keep in mind I have a house, Wife and 3 kids I had considered Polk Audio but wanted some more opinions.
