Default The Condemned Audio Surround Sound Help ?

I have a surround sound hooked up to my ps3 with an optical cable. Im not very knowledgable about surround sounds ... but for some reason the first audio track in The Condemned Blu-ray wouldn't work. This is the first time this has happened to me so I didnt know if the condemned had some kind of audio format that my surround was not capable of. I had to hit the audio button and go to audio 2 for it to come over my surround sound. It still played in 5.1 as far as i could tell but i was just wondering what the deal is. I have a cheap surround sound and plan on upgrading to something new here in about a month. What do i need to get to have the best blu ray audio expierence. Some links to actual surround sounds would be helpful. I finally have a wonderful 1080p tv and now I want the best sound. Help me out people, please!

Guessing that your receiver cannot decode DTS HD...? It's a 7.1 track also.

Yes, it appear that your receiver is not able to decode the Core DTS track at that given bitrate. I would suggest instead setting your PS3 to output as PCM and setting your receiver's DSP to expand the PCM signal to 5.1.

First: Name your surround sound hookup. Then the rest can be answered. If you're vague about it, we're vague about our solutions.

FYI, using optical input, the core DTS track is extracted from DTS HD so that all DTS decoders can decode it.

Sorry ... it is a Durabrand ht-395. I have had it for several years. It has a dolby digital 5.1 symbol on it.

Also do i need to go with a surround sound with HDMI ... is HDMI better than Optical?

I dont know if its better but the sound can go alot louder with optical through my crappy home theater system than the hdmi hook up. I like the optical better for my set up but someone else here will have a much better answer for you

You should look to upgrade your receiver. It does not sound like you are looking to spend too much money so I would suggest looking at Yamaha or JVC units with optical with both Dolby and DTS.

I'm happy with the receiver I have in my sig for now but I'll look at the HDMI receivers later.
