I wanted to copy a thread which was started on a norwegian AVforum a while back. Calculating the amount spent on Blurays compared to your net annual income.
There are differences in wages/prices all over the world, and this would be the most common comparison I think. So you take the amount spent on Blurays each year, multiply with 100, and divide that on your net annual income to get the percentage of income spent on Blu's. so: If you make $40000 a year, and spend $5000 a year on movies that makes 5000x100/40000=12.5% of your income spent on Blurays Edit: No one will know how much $ you spend, or how much $ you make a year. And you dont have to post if you dont want to ofcourse ![]() Last edited by Shallow_; 07-09-2011 at 10:30 AM. |

can't be deadly certain but probably about 10-11% on the high side.
my entire yearly entertainment expenditure for this last year was about $5800 which is 16 % of my total yearly income... and that Includes ALL entertainment (monthly fees to netflix, new speakers, a new amp, movies that I bought for friends that they reimburse me for etc, other entertainment things).... so about 34 of that is actually movies or movies for me shall I say since I'm the guy who picks up movies at pawn shops and sales for my friends since I'm out and about and they pay me back.. Considering I'm a college student..probably way too much. Might explain why I've lost some weight recently. I'd say about 40-50%. I started collecting Blu-rays January 2011 and I already have over 150 titles. I am quite certain that from this moment on it will slow down rapidly. If I'd continue like this the whole year the percentage would be close to 70%. And that would be rather sad.

LOL...some thread subjects are really weird >>>
"How much of your income is spent on Blurays?" "Rate the collection of the poster above you!" "Pick a title from the above users collection that you want to own." "What's the oldest BD (by year of theatrical release) in your collection?" "What is the average runtime of your collection?" "What BD collection size would satisfy you?" |

A comparison thread you mean
![]() Usd $1000 is alot more in the US than it is here in Norway for instance, and many users are located different places in the world and an amount in one currency with no regard to user location and that country's wages are useless. Started this thread after a comment in another thread about $xxxx being alot of money to spend on blurays. For some it is, for some it is not. A percentage of his/her available income is the most real comparison. Quote:
Everyone in here knows that those of us who get Blurays early pay a premium price for it, no need to comment on it Every single time. Last edited by Shallow_; 07-09-2011 at 12:23 PM. |

I mainly pre-order. In the interest of the thread and % spent of your income, I wouldn't say that getting titles early necessarily have to come with a premium price, and certainly not the insane $50+ prices some stores charge. In my own case, I'd have to say Amazon's prices are pretty close to what I end up paying, and still I get some titles a couple of days early. |
