I voted for Corpse Bride which is also my favorite T. Burton film. I still own the DVD for the Corpse Bride and will never get rid of it. I have A Nightmare Before Christmas on DVD and need to upgrade to Blu-ray in the future.
I haven't seen Frankenweenie yet and will most likely blind buy it on release day. I really enjoy stop-motion films.

I won't consider nightmare before Christmas a burton film, and unfortunately I haven't seen frankenweenie yet, defaulting to corpse bride. Rewatched it recently and was reminded how good it was

Out of the 3 films, Nightmare Before Christmas. Haven't seen Frankenweenie except for that extra that's included in the Blu-ray of Nightmare Before Christmas but that one is different.

I would say "The Nightmare Before Christmas", but this is pure Selick. Yeah, I know, Burton was involved a lot. But when you look at 'Giant Peach' and 'Coraline', you can tell by many things who was the driven force behind it. I think Burton his (stop motion) pictures are weaker on different levels. Haven't seen Frankenweenie yet, so I would have to say Corpse Bride, since it's the only one left.

I just love his short Vincent about a small boy who wants to be Vincent Price and was narrated by the great actor himself.

To me, to say that The Nightmare Before Christmas isn't really Tim Burton's film, just because he wasn't the director, is a bit like saying Snow White isn't really Walt Disney's film, because he didn't direct it.

Speaking of Henry Selick, I don't really think Coraline is very much like The Nightmare Before Christmas. I like both quite a lot, but they have a different feeling to them, IMO.

So, that would also hold true for Tim not directing Corpse Bride, either?
(We didn't accuse that one of "Mike Johnson just lamely rehashing all his old hits.")

I don't understand why, if a guy fronts up enough cash that he can have his name on the top billing of a movie and over-shadows that movie's own director.

Tarantino is the same and it pisses me off.

I don't give a damn that Burton wrote The Nightmare Before Christmas, he didn't direct it and 90% of its fans have no idea who Henry Selick is.

Obviously, Tim Burton did do more than that for Nightmare.

Do you feel the same about Walt Disney?

Well, at least the OP was aware enough not to put "9" on the poll...
Most Tim-boi posters would.

Walt Disney TOLD the directors what to do. And they did it for fear of getting fired.
That's the difference between an old-school 40's-50's studio boss who "made" his movies the same way Louis B. Mayer did, and some desperately franchising idiot who spends money to subsidize some poor, struggling director's hard work and then paste his own name over the title.

...Do you feel the same way about Wes Craven?

It isn't always that someone put up enough money to get their name with top billing - often times the studios want that known name on the project to help sell the movie. I keep wondering if Warner Bros. is going to call The Man of Steel - "Christopher Nolan's The Man of Steel".

I voted for Nightmare Before Christmas. I haven't seen the new Frankenweenie film so I guess my vote is a little skewed.

Just to be clear, I didn't mean to imply Nightmare should be ONLY considered Tim Burton's film. But in this case, it's not like his only contributions were financial. I think The Nightmare Before Christmas is just as much a Danny Elfman project as it is Burton's and Selick's.

And the Disney comparison was just me being sarcastic...

I am a big Tim Burton fan, but It bothers me when people believe he's the director. I once had an argument with a girl about this, I showed her the DVD and her response, "That's because it the special edition DVD", WTF does that have to do with the director. It's not a Tim Burton film, sure he wrote a short story and produced, but he didn't make it. I discovered this movie when I was a little kid, in second grade I did a project on it and nobody knew what the movie was. Also the movie got a lot popular in 2002/03. I person hate how Disney's name is on it. In the end, if I were to choose NBC is the best movie out of the three, but the best Tim Burton movie would be Corpse Bride, I need to see Frankenweenie again.

When I bought Coraline, the guy at the counter was like; "Why is everyone buying this today? I've never heard of it!"

I said; "Cause it's good, and popular. It's by the guy who directed The Nightmare Before Christmas!"

"Tim Burton! Really?" he replies, flipping it over to check the back to see if I was telling porky-pies.

"Um... no, mate. Tim Burton didn't direct that movie."

He looked at me in disbelief, although he'd already spotted the line in the blurb that confirmed that the FACT I stated was true. And these are the people they employ to work in video stores...
