Are those just DVD slips that you've cut down? Interesting... I always just put the BR into the dvd case/slip if I happen to have one...

Yep just DVD slips, used an exacto knife to trim them down. Happy with how most of them came out but some things bug me about a few...

The DD logo on the spine of DareDevil is closer to the top edge than I wanted it to be, but I had to do it to get the full embossed DD logo on the front to not be cut off at the bottom...

The CC logo on the spine of Crank is cut-off, I wish it wasn't there at all but the slip would have been too short if I cut it off, and a little bit to tall if I included the full logo...

The spine of The Fifth Element looks great, but on the front the cast listing on the top (Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman..) is trimmed off an only includes the bottom 1/3 of the text...

The spine of The Illusionist looks great, but on the front the top is trimmed off to just above Ed Norton's eyes, where on the Blu it shows half his forehead...

These look cool and it's not a bad idea, but why do it for movies that already have a BD slipcover?

Interesting, I see your points. Do the blu ray cases slip around inside them though? Or did you somehow resize the slips, maybe by opening them up on the glued edge then re-gluing or something?

Interesting, but I'd be annoyed with the extra space (since BD cases are skinner than DVDs).

Cause I didn't get the releases that came with the Blu slips. And while I do enjoy Slips, I'm not going to hunt down a used Blu slip or re-buy a more expensive copy that has the slip.

Out of all of them, only Crank, DareDevil and The Fifth Element actually fit snug inside the DVD slip and don't slide around. The others are all a little loose, if I grab hold of the slip from the edge the Blu will actually slide right out.

Its only something I did for fun since I had the DVDs sitting around. I don't plan on actually modifying any of the amaray cases.

Well done...been pondering doing quite a few of these myself, as lots of the DVD slips are actually more interesting than their Blu-ray counterparts (more gatefold slips, many more DVD's where the cover art is different than the slipart, etc.). Actually did a test fitting on a few that I had flattened out, sitting in a box, and they fit quite a bit more snugly than I thought.

Any tips on getting the cuts right, so that you only have to make one cut? I've never trimmed a slipcover, but I've done lots of cutting with x-acto knives before, I know that getting it right the first time is way easier than trying to correct a mistake.

I've been thinking of doing something like that for the Funimation BD titles that come in a DVD Case + Slipcover, but cutting that ~inch or so off would lose some text.

I imagine some of the thicker cases (14mm / PS3-sized) would hold the slipcovers a little better than the 11.5/12mm cases.

I once wanted to do this for my BOLT BR, since we don't have a slip in our country for it. But the front would end up looking weard because of the cutting. Not a bad idea, though.

Thanks! As far as cutting, I just laid down a ruler and help it firmly in place, then made repeated cuts with the blade against the edge of the ruler. The xacto knife I was working with wasn't in "new" condition, so it took about 3-4 cuts to get a clean cut through the 2 layers of the slip

Yea, the fronts of DareDevil, The Fifth Element, and The Illusionist look weird due to cropping. Text was cropped on DD and TFE and Ed Norton's forhead was cropped on TI.
