Peter Bogdanovich. Phil Joanou. A bevy of some of the most interesting directors in Hollywood tackled short stories by masters of hard-boiled crime for this widely hyped, ambitious, and often terrific anthology show. I assume this is with Paramount/CBS given that it was produced for Showtime, but I don't know. It was release as a multi-volume VHS set, but never had a DVD.
