importing Projectors

I'm interested in importing a projector from the states into New Zealand because of the massive savings in price even with shipping (Optoma HD20 1250NZ (1000us) on Amazon while it is $2500NZ (2100us) at its lowest price here). Has anyone been through this process before? who would I buy off? What would be the shipping? Any customs questions? What problems would I in counter like foreign power connectors etc.

Any help would be appreciated, living in NZ feels like a handicap for this sort of thing. My Onkyo Receiver which is the low end model cost me the same as the high end model does in the states even with the currency conversion. It is a hard hobby at times.
