Rachel Bilson To Star In The CW's Dixie Pilot

I don't think anything could make this upcoming pilot season any better. The casting across the board on everything from network to cable has been spectacular. Easily the best in a very very long time, if not ever. I am looking forward to so many projects now it's just ridiculous. I know a good handful of them will never make it to air, but I still gotta hold out hope.

Rachel Bilson will reunite with The O.C. creator-executive producer Josh Schwartz this pilot season after all: The actress is close to a deal to star in Hart Of Dixie, The CW’s hourlong pilot produced by the Gossip Girl duo of Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

Hart Of Dixie is a comedic drama centered on a young New York City doctor (Bilson) who inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town inhabited by an eclectic and eccentric group of characters.

Earlier this development season, Bilson was attached to star in Ghost Angeles, a supernatural romantic comedy for NBC co-written by Schwartz; that pilot ultimately didn’t go forward.

Bilson previously has done arcs on Schwartz’s NBC dramedy Chuck as well as CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, where she played a love interest for Ted Mosby.

She looked great in Jumper and I like a lot of CW shows so I will at least give it a chance.

Awesome news I was disappointed when her other pilot failed but happy she got another one hopefully it does good and can stay on air for awhile.

It's the CW, if it can manage a 1.0 in the 18-49 it'll be on for a decade.

King, will play a beautiful, overly effusive young woman, one of the elite "Blue Belles", a group of southern debutante-types who keep the town history alive by performing in period dress.

I haven't really been a fan of anything Porter has done outside of Friday Night Lights, but the way he handled the story lines of Jason Street will always give me faith he is very capable of another great role given the right character and dialogue, so I am happy for his casting. I am looking forward to this pilot, I just hope it's not a total chick show like Gossip Girl which no matter the eye candy I just cannot watch.

Scott Porter has been tapped as the male lead opposite Rachel Bilson in CW's drama pilot Hart of Dixie. The project, from writer Leila Gerstein, WBTV and Fake Empire, is a comedic drama centered on Zoe Hart (Bilson), a young New York City doctor who inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town inhabited by an eclectic and eccentric group of characters. Porter, repped by Gersh and Brillstein, will play Zoe's romantic interest, a charming and gallant local attorney who is engaged to marry, the daughter of Zoe's competitor at the medical practice.

No, because next season has very few renewals, an pilots aren't picked up till may.

I know that I'll watch it instead of boring Raw, plus it'll have Bilson.

Surprising I don't have anything in that hour until the mid-season switch up when Alcatraz takes this slot. Don't know if I'll watch this, but for Rachel I'll give it my rule of 3.

Yeah I'll be watching for Rachel but I also love medical shows so was probably going to always give this show a chance regardless of casting unless it was someone I didn't like. Casting Rachel was just a huge awesome bonus for me.

I occasionally watched ER off and on, but beyond that I can't think of any other medical show I watched and liked.

Yeah for me it's Grey's, House and what little I have seen of Royal Pains. Did want to maybe stat ER soon or watch a few. So not that many actually.

Video previews. Actually looks a lot better then I thought it would and looks like something that could last for awhile on the CW and not be another Hellcats or Life unexpected.

I was wondering which one had priority as I saw her in both trailers. It's crazy how many actors this season ended up on two series that were picked up and will have to be recast.

Nancy Travis To Be Recast On 'Hart Of Dixie'

Nancy Travis scored a double at the upfronts this week as both pilots she appeared in, the ABC comedy Last Man Standing the the CW light drama Hart of Dixie, were picked up to series. She was the female lead opposite Tim Allen in Last Man Standing and was a guest star/recurring in CW's Hart of Dixie but was prominently featured in the clip for the medical drama screened at the CW's upfront presentation. While regulars on series often recur on other shows, I hear that Last Man Standing producer 20th Century Fox TV wouldn't allow Travis to recur on Dixie and her role will now be recast.
