OK here is my scenario and I am just looking for some opinions on what to do. I have a Denon AVR-1610 that has been my main receiver of my home theater. I recently moved out of an apartment and into a new home. My old set up was a 50" Plasma, the denon and a set of TSC satellite speakers and Dayton sub. I also got some TSC bookshelfs, center, and 2 BIC F12 to replace the satellites set up but kept the satellites in storage. I also have an extra pair of satellites that could be combined with either set up for 7.1.
Now my problem- I also just got a like new(well taken care of) Onkyo TX-SR606 from a buddy for $100 cause he upgraded to 3D. So now to the home I just bought. The prior owner built an entertainment center into the wall that of course my 50" will not fit it. I have already decided to put the 42" Plasma from the bedroom in it's place and use the satellites for easy neat mounting(due to lay out of room). I will use one of the extra rooms in the house as a theater room. Here is where the 50" and bookshelf set up will go. What makes my decision so hard is this. I love the Denon and it's Audyssey MultiEQ and would love it to be my main receiver with the bookshelfs. But I would also like to use it in the living area because there are wired outside speakers that use very thick 10-12 gauge(if to guess) speaker wire. I will use banana plugs and they would work great with the Denon's Speaker set B for stereo use to entertain outside without the need for a seperate stereo receiver. The Onkyo I know is nice but only has Audyssey 2EQ. I would love to use the extra set of satellites and have my theater room 7.1. I just don't know how hard it would be to calibrate the sub seperately and if it will sound as good as the Denon. The Onkyo also has the stereo speaker for the outside set but they are cheap little spring clips. I think the Onkyo could also just use 5.1 and have the extra surround dedicated to a second zone for stereo use but I am not 100% sure if that would work for what I am looking to do. Now I don't mind using all satellites for a 7.1 in the living area and keeping it 5.1 in the theater room. But 5.1 for the living area would be much much easier for that area and wire running and 7.1 would be much easier in the room to set up. So I don't really know what I want to do. So what I ask is for some opinions on what some of you guys would do? |
