Default Best Buy HD DVD ads

These arent exactly the greatest ads around, but none-the-less, not helpful.

What happened to the "buy an HD-DVD disc, and we'll throw in a free HD-DVD player" promotion?

TBH, i was quite turned off by the ad. Seeing that says to me that the player is selling like crap and they can get rid of it. I dont know whos in charge of the promotions like that, Im assuming BB, but besides desparation, it makes Tosh look bad. Bad player that doesnt sell = free give away to get rid of them.

the only thing is left for toshiba and MS to do is this great promo idea.

Buy an HDDVD player and get 10 free hddvd films, and you will get stock options and medical benefits along with that.

Actually it's only free with select Toshiba flat panel TV. You don't get it free with a Panasonic TV.

A good promotion is one thing but giving them away free? Yea it does seem like a desperation move by the HD DVD camp

Depending on the TV it goes with (and I don't think it's the Panny), this isn't necessarily a bad thing for HD. Unless there is a serious bias toward Blu-ray by the consumer, this will decide a consumer's HD choice.

It appears that all the people in this previous thread think it's a smart idea.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=promotion

People should be more consistant...

Toshiba paid for it this week, Sony will pay next, Buena vista the following. Last fall Saumsung bought out the entire month of October for a full page or 2 or their products

It doesn't mean anything other than someone wrote a check
