I ordered Starhip Troopers from Amazon (don't judge... I LOVE that movie!) It wouldn't play on either of my set-ups.... both Panasonic players. One is a BD60... the other a little newer... I forget the model number. I exchanged it at got a second copy of the movie and it does the SAME THING!
![]() I get the loading bar graphic... and then nothing. Can't go to the top menu, change chapters... nothing. I've tried changing the BD-Live settings with no results. Anyone have this movie? |

For sure the Panasonics need a memory card in place for this (fantastic
![]() I think the other one that I know of that may have the same constraint is Crank 2. (Not quite so fantastic, but still worth a spin.) |

It's definitely a documented problem with Starship Troopers - hanging on the loading screen. Sony players also suffered from this (my old, now packed-up Sony BDP-S350 was affected, but keeping the USB thumbdrive installed prevented the problem). All three of my Blu-ray setups are networked and have active storage, so the problem is a non-issue for me nowadays.

This is a weird and persistent problem. I had to pull the USB drive out of the rear port, shut down, then put it back in and the stupid movie played. It worked before, not sure why it stopped working. It sure seems like a lot of trouble for a movie that only has great effects and wonderful music.

My Sony player also requires the extra flash memory for the menu to load up. No biggie. |

I came across this thread using Google to search for issues with Starship Troopers loading as it appeared to freeze at the red bar showing the "stuff" from the disc being loaded. Note that I have several different Sony players, all of them several years old, including a Home Theater with Blu-ray. They all have a 64GB USB drive plugged into their rear USB port. Had the same behavior in all of them. Just to see what might happen I let it sit, presumably locked up while trying to load. Lo and behold, after about five minutes, maybe longer as it seemed like forever, the longest I've every had to wait for a Blu-ray to load, it finally started to play the studio intro followed by a trailer for one of the sequels.

If that does not work, add memory to your player, zip drive etc.
