Default Netflix Drops the Qwikster Idea

"It’s hard to write this after over 10 years of mailing DVDs with pride, but we think it is necessary: In a few weeks, we will rename our DVD by mail service to “Qwikster”. We chose the name Qwikster because it refers to quick delivery. We will keep the name “Netflix” for streaming."

Got the email or you can read it all here - http://blog.netflix.com/2011/09/expl...id=netflixBlog

The CEO is out there commenting too (while he still has a job). Their stock is about to take another hit.

So if I'm reading it right, instead of having 1 login and being easy, it's going to be 2 different sites, so 2 different logins.

Or do you think this will be a good move for the future? They're adding in video game rentals for Qwikster. I like it all in one place since I use both, so it's convenient.

Wow, that's bizarr-o. I've never seen a CEO act like this, then that video too. It won't change anyone's mind.

I think either way, those CEOs are mega millionaires why not just make the customers happy?

Just because they're separating, it doesn't mean that they don't love you.

Check out the Qwikster Twitter account, haha - http://twitter.com/#!/Qwikster

That guy will wake up and wonder why he has so many new followers.

It's funny how I see more people at my local blockbuster and all my friends canceled their Netflix lol now it's called quickster and it's separate from Netflix so it'll be 35 a month for streaming,1 bluray and one copy of a ps3 game lol rather go into a air conditioned store.rent a movie and a game for 5 bucks lol can't beat that!

split the services and sites to make people think they're not getting ripped off but rather members of two different sites entirely

also allows them to raise prices in the future without getting a huge reaction

I sorry, dude, but Qwikster sounds like what I do when I make a glass of chocolate milk.

And I feel really bad about the pun in the above sentence.

Good luck to ya Mr. Reed.

If it weren't for my two boys, I would have cancelled the streaming along with the inflated mail service many months ago.

Well, dont really think this is a good idea. I still like Netflix though and cant see any better options. Oh wait - Cable and Satellite are there, if you are willing to let them destroy your ASS every month with their obscene charges, fees, and service fiascos.

And dont say Redbox - they have a handful of new films and thats it.

Its hilarious when companies realize they can't lose money forever. The only sad part of this is that the USPS, which is already suffering, will lose more business.

The studios have realized that there is money to be made in streaming. They will continue to raise licensing fees no matter what Netflix does, and prices will continue to rise.

Netflix is profitable , Blockbuster is bankrupt, Redbox has a very limited selection.

Hollywood's plan to kill Netflix is humming along great.

If Hollywood thinks we are going to have accounts and pay a equivalent amount at each studio to stream their movies, they are more out of touch than I thought.

I dropped streaming. 90% of my DVD que wasn't on instant. If they start to get some better titles on Instant maybe I would keep it but it seems like a lot of crap.

And Netflix's plan to kill their DVD market is humming along great as well.

This is what it was always about . . . the price hike . . . this quikster business . . . it is to drive people to move to streaming.
