Will the firmware for the blu-ray drives be upgradeable so as to increase the write speeds and/or add support for multiple-layer burning?

after increase the write speeds drive can damage (only up of the max write speeds)!!

Just for clarification, what BD drives are we talking about? also has there been any talk of updating the firmware just to correct the problems people have been having?
