Default So whats your Christmas wishlist

I am asking every relative and my gf who always comes through, for nothing but gift cards for Amazon. I plan on having a nice $700-$800 order placed at once. My b-day is in December too, so with Christmas hopefully I can get a good $800 worth of gift cards. I think everyone should get at least one good amazon gift card .

I like the way u think...I cant ask people to get me BD's because I get them right when they come out, and so I have a shit load coming before Xmas. Gift Cards/Cash is the way to go. I am currently looking at which receiver to get...Onkyo 605/705/805.

I have had a PS3 and Wii since launch. Let me say this. After a couple weeks of playing the wii, it gets extremely boring. Controls never seem to work smoothly, with the exception of Resident Evil which does own. It is sadly the only game that does deserve that title on the wii though. If I could do it over again, I probably would have just left it at the game store. But you do what you please, cause everyone has different opinions. I'm just disappointed at the constant array of children and family games every week and nothing else good like resident evil wii edition.

If you can afford it, get the 805 minimum. I have read reviews on the others from real people who purchased them from Amazon, CC and BB. Many returned the 605 and 705 to trade up for the better sound and options that the 805 supports.

thanks for the info thats good to know. Ill prob still get it but not really for many for the "hardcore" games tho. I have heard comments like this before. Then main reason I was going to get it is so my little sister and I could play the sports games or mario party or something like that. I would be sure to rent any other titles 1st.

So what are the better receivers that do DTS-HDMA and the other HD audio formats. I plan on getting one soon too maybe around Christmas but not sure yet. not really looking to spend more than about a grand. Im not too familiar with the high end receivers because we don't have a magnolia in my best buy. and I dont have as much time as I used to for researching that stuff

I beleive you can get the Onkyo SR 805 for about 1K on line. This receiver is missing nothing in the sound format option department. Not to mention the amount of control you have on sound volume, tone, bass, treble etc to apply to each individual channel. I just bought one after reading on-line reviews by very satisfied customers and I am more than happy with this unit. You won't find a THX certified unit in this price range either. With 130 Watts per channel, it delivers the kind of punch without distortion (rated at 0.05) that is really something to experience.

personally, i think its best if i ask them to go out and purchase me the BD's I want. because that way they'll be introduced to a product they might otherwise be unfamiliar with. 'you want a blu-ray? what's that?' an opportunity arises. i get what i want and people are introduced to blu. the benefit is twofold

unless i buy them first, here's my wish list:

die hard quadrilogy
close encounters
prison break season 1
ronin
pirates 3
red dawn
independence day
mr and mrs smith

(hopefully there will be more release announcements)

Not a bad Idea. They will also see for themselves all of the HD movies playing throughout the store and see what they have been missing!

Default Ps3

I'd like a PS3 (I have a stand alone Blu player) and an XBR4.

...PS3 sounds more realistic

A Blu-drive for my desktop would be great too.
