Hi,
I have to ask you guys something about US Blu-ray´s... Yesterday I´ve noticed that the English Subtitle and the English Language weren´t always equal to each other... The guy in the movie said something, but either there was shortly no sub, or they´ve translated it in the "good" / wrong way... That freaked me out... ![]() So, Is the English subtitle on a US Blu-ray always / (mostly) alike the Language ? Cause I want to hear & read the same at a time... ![]() ![]() Thnkx. But sometimes the conversation & the subtitle don´t match with each other...
Is this common ? |

![]() Hm... let me explain it like this: Here´s a clip from the movie "Road Trip" = http://youtube.com/watch?v=wYumJ2ruv0E He said: "Look at me I´m a mouse eat me eat me eat me eat me..." But the Subtitle was: " (Barey) I´m a Mouse, eat me ..." that wasn´t a BIIIIIIGGGG mistake, but still not exactly what he was saying... So that was not the same. There are many more cut / wrong translations in it... Is this common ? Last edited by Blu-Style; 01-25-2008 at 02:24 AM. |

not always.... believe me. I always turn subtitles on, either on english, french or Indonesian (Bruce Almighty BD only)
French subs was most terrible. It sometimes only matches few words if you set the audio to french. |

Sometimes the English captions are based off of a script before ad-libbing and final changes are made, so you get slight to moderate differences. Occasionally lines can be very different.
I've noticed this in other languages as well. For example, it seems to happen way too often in anime. The Japanese captions on the Ghost in the Shell (1st movie) Blu-Ray are totally different from the Japanese dialogue. |

Aren't the french subtitle supposed to be a tranlation on the english language while the french audio is supposed to make the movie french in understanding and mouth-movement ???? On a side note I belive the danish subtitles for DAS BOOT has been translated from the english audio track which is wrong - it should be translated from the german track |
