A favorite of mine since I caught on tv back in the 80's. I've always had a facination with the North Face of Eiger and the people who climb it. Mix in Clint Eastwood, some spy action, and 1970's fashion and I'm all in.

Not to mention John Williams scoring an Eastwood film. Eastwood said it should've been nominated over Jaws (which Williams did the same year).

The climbing scenes are also authentic and what really makes the film memorable. The story itself is dripping with satire but is quite funny and politically incorrect.

Universal is finally releasing Joe Kidd and Two Mules for Sister Sara on April 1st......still waiting on Universal to release Play Misty For Me and The Beguiled in addition to Eiger Sanction. Couple of great, important films in Eastwood's career since Play Misty For Me was his first directing job and The Beguiled teams Eastwood up with mentor and Dirty Harry director Don Siegel. Wonderful, strange, unique film.

The Eastwood collection that Universal released a few years ago on DVD was a good release though. Restored and in anamorphic widescreen. Guess that'll have to do for now.

That is pretty much the last Eastwood one I have on DVD that hasn't been announced for Blu-ray yet.
