If by slow burn, you mean movies that should die in a slow fire, I vote 2001: A Space Odyssey.

lol

You will find that lots of people enjoy this movie, however I found it horrible. This one is a love/hate movie.

The only "slow burn" I know of is the comic take of a character trying, and failing, to keep calm in a frustrating situation--
The only one I know of on Blu that would qualify is Steve Martin in "Planes, Trains and Automobiles", but only because there's no John Cleese or WC Fields on Blu yet.

(coo-coo, coo-coo... )

Genre doesn't matter to me.

Some examples of what I call "slow burn" are: "Session 9", The original "Let The Right One In", "A Tale of Two Sisters" (Korea), "A Bittersweet Life" (Korea), "2001: A Space Odyssey", The original "Pulse", "Once Upon A Time In The West", "Paris, Texas", the slow parts of "Bladerunner", and the opening of "Alien".

I'm guessing you mean movies that are slow-paced, or ones with a lot of plot build-up leading to a dramatic conclusion. The following could be considered slow-burners:

- The American
- Audution
- Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford
- Antichrist
- The Shining
- House of the Devil
- Barry Lyndon

I found 'Moon' to be a slow burn film, as well as the following:

Alien
Amadeus
AntiChrist
Blade Runner
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Harry Brown
JFK
The Man Who Fell To Earth
The Shining
THX 1138

Maybe this'll help.

I'm looking for movies whose pace and atmosphere are: slow, quiet, tranquil, mellow, laid-back, peaceful, introspective, and meditative.

Another Year. Excellent, underrated film, and a definite slow burn.

I checked your collection to make sure you didn't have it. It is the very epitome of all the things you listed there. It also has pretty much the best video quality of any blu-ray I have ever seen. The audio is absolutely amazing as well.

Solaris is a three hour slow burn with no real explosive ending.
