Default How to Kill a PS3 (You Can't!)

Absolutely amazing. They stress-tested the machine and it came through with flying colors.

It's pretty amazing that Sony achieved Nintendo-level reliability in a system that's many, many times more complex.

What if I take a baseball bat and smash the PS3 unit?

Ok, that is really neat. It appears performance is not affected by temperature and voltage change which is really cool considering all the problems I have seen with microprocessors lately.

IN A SAUNA EH?!?!?! So, all of those reports of overheating and burning houses down are proven "highly unlikely"! Probably covert operations by X-bots trying to manipulate the masses through media... much like the U.S. government and terrorism!

Definately not a misreporting

The kiosks the PS3s are in have the fans blowing IN, when they're supposed to be exhausting (they're positioned right above the primary vent when the console is vertical)

And yes, the kiosk PS3s go down all the time because of the heat buildup.

I expect those who duct tape closed all their vents, or put it in other unventilated spots have similar issues. The big problem is buildup in a small space. Had they put it in a tiny box attached to a heatpump, you would have seen different results

This further confirms my thought that the user (Matt something) who said he was on his third Playstation 3, and had an Xbox 360 since launch with no problems was completely full of you know what. I could see one PS3 breaking if you were really really unlucky, but two is incredibly unlikely.

ah nice, worried me as my PS3 got stuck trying to load a picture from my PSP last night I turned off my PSP thinking it'd stop trying to load because it was trying for a good 3 or 4 minutes, I press the PS button and try to turn off the system, screen goes black, then the green lights flash for a few seconds then it made this beeping sound, I turned it off since it didn't shut off by it self, turned it back on and it seemed normal... what the hell!? haha

Yea I saw that video, <3 PS3, its such an awesome machine. With folding at home running while people arent playing their PS3's, some people have had it running since they got it. On one thread, one guy said he had his PS3 running for 9 months without problems. While another had his ps3 in iraq, while he was serving in the army i believe, in very hot temperatures covered in dirt & dust, etc, and it still runs like a champ.

LOL@the smash my ps3. I saw it before but its awesome how little damage they do, WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER. Ps3's are the GREATEST in terms of reliability.

I would like to see them take a Halo Edition 360 and have it play halo3 or Gears or bioshock in a sauna for 24 hours straight without getting RRoD'd.

I still have my first run PS2 and all i can say is she don't eject quite as quick no more, but she runs and plays great, I expect the same from my PS3.
