With all the recent news of the John Wayne movie True Grit being released later this year on Blu-Ray just in time for the Coen Brothers new version with Jeff Bridges, I got to wondering just how popular the movie western has become after all this time. For a genre in decline since the 1970s it sure got a lot of our members interested in seeing John Wayne's movies restored to Blu-Ray. The recent film restoration by Robert A Harris and his team of experts currently working to salvage John Wayne's Todd-AO epic The Alamo are still under way.
If given the opportunity which movie westerns would you jump at if offered as Blu-Ray restored releases? ![]() Let me get the ball rolling with just a few off the top of my head... The Big Country (1958) Bite the Bullet (1975) Chisum (1970) Major Dundee (1965) Cheyenne Autumn (1964) Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973) |
