Just stumbled across this article today.
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/rea...ry?id=18935781 Shockingly enough, PC sales are declining. Not sure why. Nobody uses computers anymore? I'm pretty shocked to hear because I thought we're living in an electronic world now. Weird. |

I don't know. I like desktops. Nice big screen and they're much faster. In fact, they're so fast that I never really needed to upgrade my 4 year old desktop. It's still lightning fast after all these years.
![]() And not to mention that it's so much easier to type on a standard keyboard. I can't imagine writing letters and lengthy emails on a tablet. |

I can see the need for your situation. I use a pc all day @ work, which I need for that. But for home use, I don't need one.

That's exactly what my Dad and I were hypothesizing, and it could also be that a lot of people just bought so they won't need to get on for the next 5 or 6 years. I don't know if Laptops are considered PC's but my 15" Macbook goes through my receiver so I get amazing stereo sound, and to my 55" TV.

Microsoft blew it with windows 8. That extra layer of interface turned people off. Any discussion of Apple is irrelevant here.
Microsoft is so far behind on windows phone (which has a great os but terrible music system and lack of apps.) and the integration of its Surface tablet with the new os. It's a tough time in Redmond these days. |

So, that being said, since the majority of people are casual with their "computer related" activities, the less room it takes up and the easier it is to store away out of sight, the better it is. There is no need to have an entire 5% to 15% of living space taken up by electronics and supporting furniture that will be used mainly for e-mails and surfing the internet. I've actually started to use my iPhone more frequently than my laptop for surfing the internet and e-mailing. But, then I also get to do all of my internet stuff while on breaks at work and in other scenarios where I'm not at home. So, this allows me to actually spend quality time at home instead of sitting in front of a computer screen. I'm guessing that the same is happening for many many many others. ![]() Quote:

I use a 2009 iMac (which is not considered a PC) for work and storage.
An iPad Mini for internet browsing and email in bed and a Dumbphone for calls and text. All e mails will be answered at work or home. Since I switched to a dumb phone I am more in touch with the real world. Last edited by Spicoli; 04-12-2013 at 11:57 PM. |
