Default Call of Duty MW3 PC thread

There isn't a thread for the PC version, and I know the PC version isn't as welcomed, but it is still a good game on PC. I have been playing for a couple of days (finished campaign and now on multiplayer), and so far has ran pretty well on a low end computer I played on. Anyways, I want to see if anyone here plays MW3, and would like to play some multiplayer or Survival mode.

My steam account

I actually have an origin account, and battlefield 3. Origin is actually pretty underutilized (other than to download the game at best), with pretty much everything is done by battlelog.org so it is possible it could be ported to steam. I bet you it won't since about average of 100,000 are playing BF3 on origin (source please), so it's not going away anytime soon. I like the game, but it constantly crashes on my system, I'm lucky if I could make an hour of play, it was not fun to deal with the grief. I'd love to play it on a high end machine. It actually enticed me on getting MW3 on PC.

I've been playing some more, I'm having serious issues playing Survival mode. I have my game freeze alot when I play with a friend, although it's not as bad on multiplayer.

http://www.fraps.com/download.php

Leave FRAPS on and check on the FPS marker (this will be activated whenever teh game is on, works with any game). You can also use this to record video (at 30 or 60 FPS) from the game, although using the video recorder can drop the framerate (I have not used theater mode on MW3 yet).

Does anyone game on there PC using the MS Xbox 360 controller? I am playing the campaign of CoD and stuggling to use the keyboard for movement. I do love the mouse for aiming though.

I do not use an Xbox 360 controller, although I have a cheap gamepad on me. Many PC games do offer native support for the Xbox 360 controller (I have heard reports otherwise), however I did have luck to use a keyboard to gamepad converter that works great with PC games that lack proper gamepad support like MW3.

I have tried this out on MW3 and a few shooter games. Personally I use KB+M, but I do like the convienience when playing on my projector and action games that work better with it (GTA, Sonic).

One note, the PC version does not use an auto aim mechanism that the console versions have. It's subtle, but does affect how well you can aim without it, so you can't tap the iron sights button to track on an enemy for example.

There is also xpadder, which gives you the commands for your gamepad, but it's trial based and has a limited amount of time you can use it. You might be able to reinstall it to recontinue the trial

So I am using the Joytokey, which is really cool btw, but when I use my 360 controller to move, my character difts. Sometimes a litlle sometimes really bad, it can be running foward, drifting side to side or even backwards. I cant figure this out, not sure what setting needs to be tweaked to fix this.

This might be a sensitivity issue, so I'd adjust the sensitivity settings on the keys (mainly make sure it doesn't use multiple keys, or using automatic shooting).

However If you can't get it to work, I did find an instruction section that is based on the xbox 360 controller I hope can be helpful, this does include settings for adjusting movement. I'm not by my computer to use Joykey (the reason I say this is that Its for mapping the 360 controller as a generic controller), but I'll get back to you when I use it again.

http://www.instructables.com/id/Use-...yToKey-Basics/

Since joytokey turns your gamepad into a controller, I'd try using the web browser to see if the keys are not responding correctly.

Having played MW3 with my generic gamepad again last night, I never noticed any problems with movement on my end (although aiming for me is a hassle without auto aim from the consoles), I checked and it seemed like nothing is affecting it, so I'm not sure.

I do wonder however if you tried to output the 360 controller as a generic USB controller? There could be another program running doubling with the 360 controller (I'm curious since MW3 does not have gamepad support), like a 360 controller emulator for example. I had that problem when I played GTA III, which did had gamepad support, and I only had to use JoytoKey for modifying additional controls. I hope that previous link will help.

it seemed better lastnight, although I got SLAUGHTERED online. On PS3 I am pretty good, but PC is rough!! I may just have to suck it up and use keyboard and mouse. PC players are just to fast

If you are on sometime maybe tonight, I might be able to see what I can do on what you are doing with your gamepad problem, tips on using the M+KB (or just have some fun). My steam account is in my signature.

I accepted your friend invite last night trogdor2010. this drifting problem sucks BTW, lastnight my guy litterally walked down an entire hallway by himself. I took my thumb of the stick, not touching it at all, and he just kept walking right on down the hallway. I jumped out and adjusted threshold to 15% and it seemed to be fine the rest of the night. Hopefully its fixed.

Thanks dude!

I have been pretty busy Sunday, and I don't believe I'll be on steam tonight. However, I might be back on sometime soon. Maybe Tomorrow or Wednesday, but almost definitely Thursday.

That does sound good if it's fixed. I'm still wondering about the input issue, on my end I didn't have to worry about the input, just commanding the keys at the right directions, being Joytokey is a keyboard emulator.

You can get attahcements that will give you a controller thumbstick instead of wasd. I think they can be had for around $20. Personally I prefer a gaming keyboard (which is very different to a standard keyboard in my experience).

BTW, you are going to often get destroyed online if you try playing with a controller (though there are plenty of bad players that you will be able to destroy still).
