Oh yeh good spot. If I remember there is no skull or anything that is Punisher in this flick. Might stick in on one night this week to refresh. Can also see the PQ on an upscale player. The DVD is old so may need upgrading once blu is cheap

There is a skull in the movie, it's on all the knives the Punisher uses.

Weird that AB's UK imprint seems to release more catalog than the US one.

Do you mean Scandinavian? The Dutch release has been available since last year. I own it.

I've only seen the 2004 version of the Punisher. Is this one any good?

According to the BBFC, this version seems to be uncut.

I am getting confused here I heard there was a version being worked on which will include the uncut scenes in SD and include new extras with the director. It is not released yet... I will try and find the thread I saw it in.

EDIT: FOUND IT! https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...er#post6717665

Yep, I know of that one. Am curios about the Nordic release though, if it's cheap enough, maybe I'll bite.

I Personally love this the best of the 3. It needs some editing, maybe a CG'd Punisher skull on the back of this jacket and some MUCH better music, but otherwise I think of the 3 Punishers Dolph hit the character by far the best.

It’s perfect macho cheese at the tail end of the 80s. Dolph mumbles his lines from time to time and they were lazy as hell in the costume department, but guess what? It’s a whole lot o’ fun. Check it out.

If this is indeed the true running time, then it is likely a 1080/50i PAL upconvert job just like the Dutch Blu-ray (possibly the same transfer). Film's official running time (and that of the Artisan Region-1 DVD) is 89 minutes.

Not me, it looks dumb. He never had any skull on him in the film, just on his knives as HDvision pointed out in his post vvv.

The Dutch Blu is uncut but it's 1080/50i, so the PAL speedup is what's making the running time 85 minutes instead of 89.

It's the ONLY "Punisher" as far as I'm concerned.

Not yet, but I'd imagine so. Specs state 1080p, but again, this has also not been verified yet (at least that I'm aware)

Correct. You are talking about the rumored German (Koch) release which has not yet been given a street date. There was like 15 minutes of deleted footage that was taken out of the movie before the film was officially released (almost all of which is Frank Castle's family and police life, and relationship with Louis Gossett Jr., before he becomes The Punisher). There were also a few brief violent pieces of footage (mostly during the fight scenes) that were cut from the official theatrical release, but did make it into the Japanese laserdisc (though I'm not sure if it was seen in Japanese theatrical prints).

I think many people forget that "The Punisher" did not get a theatrical release here in the USA, which was really a shame.

I'm hoping that when the Koch release comes out, that it has the original full-length theatrical cut of the film, the deleted scenes as a separate bonus feature, and the Mark Goldblatt commentary that he supposedly recorded for the film...not to mention I hope that it's region-free, as I doubt we'll ever see a quality Blu-ray release of the film here in the U.S. anytime soon.
