Hey guys,
My parents bought a Sharp HP35U BD player back at Best Buy in July when they took a trip to the states. They have no warranty on it because Best Buy's warranties don't cross the border into Canada. The reviews on Best Buy's site primarily complain about wifi issues, or the player freezing up when you go to shut it off, but only one complaint about a playback issue. My parents bought the unit on sale, because of its capabilities to play Divix, and Sharp products have always been of high quality for us. They didn't particularly care about wi-fi, but saw it as a bonus. However, they have been having a few problems with the unit lately. On certain DVDs, BDs, and films off the USB key, the unit blacks out for a few seconds and acts like it loses a connection to the TV. I haven't noticed it doing this since I upgraded the firmware, but I was curious if anyone else has had that happen, whether it was with a Sharp or any other player. In addition to the black outs, I bought my mother the Gladiator/Braveheart set on BD for Christmas. There were no issues with Braveheart, but Gladiator would freeze up the machine on both the Theatrical and Extended cuts at any point between 1 hour and 10 minutes and 1 hour and 25 minutes. It plays fine in my Panasonic though. Again, I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue. |
