Default Updating a blu ray player

Hey guys my parents have an S300 Sony and I was wondering if updating the player's firmware matter. If so how can it be done? its not connected to anything other than the power outlet and the wall so idk how id get the update to it...help me if anyone can

You would have to go to the player's manufacturer website (in this case it would be Sony) and go to Support/Downloads, find the Blu_Ray player model to get a list of the available firmware updates, manually download the newest firmware update to your PC (usually as an .iso image) and burn the image to a CD-R using an application that can take an .iso image and expand it onto a disc. If the disc is burned correctly, the update process will start once you place the disc in the player and it loads. This is the only way to get the newest firmware updates to your player.
