Default Yamaha BD-A1010 universal player

If you want a Blu-ray player capable of playing SACD and/or DVD-A through its multi-channel analog outputs, you're kind of limited to Oppo and Cambridge Audio (at a higher price point). Well, here's another choice....

Yamaha announces the new BD-A1010 universal player

This has me curious. I owned an Oppo 93 and loved it, and always like trying new stuff. Would be cool to have another option besides Oppo, just wonder what the video chip make is that it uses.

Just ordered from Audioholics. Great return policy and free 3 yr warranty, also cheaper than MSRP.

Spoke with Yamaha, video chipset is a Yamaha proprietary.

The OPPO BDP-93 list price is $499.00 which is 95 cents cheaper compared to the Yamaha BD-A1010 which has a list price of $499.95. I would like to see a professional review on the Yamaha BD-A1010.

You just bought the A1010? If so when you put it through it's paces can you write a review for us?

Yeah, I ordered it from Audioholics yesterday, just dont have a shipping time yet.

No problem. Im a player fanatic and tend to change them out quite often. This year Ive tried the LG 690, the BDT110, 210, Oppo 93 and PS3 slim.

BDT210 and Oppo are tops in my book, but I hope this Yamaha does everything the Oppo does at $100 less

I'll also run testing on it with Spears and Munsil, hopefully it allows you to choose color space and stuff like that.

Well, Audioholics refuses to reply to inquiries, and it's still not shipped. Im thinking they showed it as will ship within 24 hours falsely. Im not impressed with their customer support so far. Im fine with it not shipping yet because it's not in stock anywhere, but at least answer my questions.

OK, so I called em. Phone service was great, I guess they just dont understand how to answer emails.

Yamaha's first shipment is due into them in the next day or two, then they will ship from Audioholics.

Just got word its not shipping till Sept now. Im cancelling the order and seeing what the new Pioneer Elites bring. They are confirmed to be Pioneer made (not sharp), have the Marvell, and could be cheaper than an Oppo.

Are you 100% positive they are Pioneer made and not Sharp? People over at avsforum.com who bought them say they aren't true Pioneer models. Have you been over to avsforum yet and asked them? They got some threads dedicated to the 2011 Pioneer bd players.

Yes. These are not yet released, and confirmed by a Pio employee to be Pioneer. Last years models were of course Sharp.

I just received my Yamaha BD-S667 BluRay player and I love it
Best player for the price which is $157 but I will for sure pick up a Yamaha BDA1010 at end of this year or early spring

Yamaha blew me away with the 667 so the Aventage 1010 BluRay player is going to rock

This must be the hardest player to get ever! Best Buy, Amazon, Vanns all don't have it! I'm wanna get rid of my Pioneer Elite Blu-Ray player and get this one to compliment my A3000 receiver, but none of the places I shop carries it

Thanks for those links guys...but I think I'm going to wait until vanns gets it in. They usually have pretty good prices and their call in sales are unbeatable!...not to mention when they have open box deals!

Is there a reason why only a select few small online vendors have it and not the major ones?
