Default Blu-ray 2008

Just stick with it thats my opinion

On a serious note though, what is your predictions. I have followed this Hd-war from November 2006 and its becoming clearer and clearer for each day if you ask me. I have xbox 360 also and I got hd-drive, imported and sold it with 10 movies included matrix box for much more profit after a month.. It was just an impulse buy because of the arrival of my new samsung lcd and i wanted to test out HD, before I got the ps3.

The massive industry support that blu-ray has and a key player the PS3 which will see lots of sale now, especially in Europe where xbox 360 sales are low. Pes 2008 bundled PS3 will sell very good.

Panasonic is a company I have huge respect for they make quality products for real ! Viera plasma line etc, and soon blu-ray will see cheaper players from them

Don't buy all the cheap crap from the hd-dvd camp just because you cant get a certain movie in HD. No need to prolong the hd-war by going this way.

There are so many good blu-ray releases current and upcoming that you can enjoy, and dont let the sales of transformers which will sell well, get you on the hype train.

Viacom excesses said yes to 150$ (paramount/dreamworks) . Its so early in the stage and Hd sales are so low in generall. They also didn't take any questions on the stage at IFA like the BDA group ! Pussies They even said before they turned hd-dvd exclusive that they didnt thought 30gb was enough and they questioned hd-dvd. That made the Hd-dvd group get in with the big bucks on the table. It F***** sucks yes, but they got it. For 18 months lol.

Its like they knew it was a stupid move, but they got so much money so of course they dont care at this early stage, I mean blu-ray had a what ? 70:30 lead by that time, and they cover it all up with hd-dvd is cheaper to produce for etc. While everywhere ells we read about retailers around the world going blu-ray and video stores going blu-ray because they see who sells the most.

Great opinion and I agree.

Though I have one point that I need to bring up. No matter what anyone says or does, people will be freaking out next week when Transformers comes out and sells well. Just wait and see, people will be saying they are switching over to hd-dvd or that Blu has lost the war!

It will be panic in the streets. I hope I am wrong, but history has shown this to be true. I for one believe that Blu is going to win in the long run, just a couple of bumps in the road along the way.

You're not wrong, I'm sure it won't be as bad as when para went hd, but I'm sure it will be pretty bad. Although I'm still sticking with my saying that they will not surpass blu ray sales even with that release.

I'm surprised that everyone is so worried about a shitty action movie that is the U.S. version of D-War. I saw this movie in theatres and was not impressed. I would much rather watch a good movie than a special effects extravaganza. Besides it's a blur half the time anyway.

Transformers might be junk, but it has been a big seller on most sites since it was announced for pre-order. We don't need to think that it isn't going to do well.

BLU aint going away. In another year, there will be 15 to 20 million PS3's using BLU, + all of the stand alone players. What #s will hd have. A tenth mabe. BLU is here to stay. If ms would have put their $ where their mouth is, they would have put the hd dvd in the x-box. Would have been a war then. But they did not. BLU is here to stay.

Don't you think it's kind of stupid for the HD DVD Promo group and their pimp Kevin Collins to go to all lenths to try and sell interactivity and the whole time they forget about releasings movies??

I mean, come on, like today, we get what, 10 (9 exclusive) releases and they have 2 (1 exclusive)... seriously man, seriously... enough is enough

I have to agree on that one. I probably would have bought an xb360 in addition to my ps3 if they had at least made one that had the HD-DVD internal. I hate the idea of an addon. Not that I'm a big fan of HD-DVD but if I was going to buy the console then I want to be able to do more than play games on it....and because it has been around a little longer there are more games available to choose from (I'm not an avid gamer so I'm really picky about what games I do buy). I have to admit that I'm a little bummed about how slowly the games have been coming along for the PS3, but since I did buy it primarily to watch movies I would never go back in time to change my choice of console. It's just that MS has made the 360 so unattractive to me by not having a model that doesn't include the HD drive. I just saw one last night at Costco...the new one...I think it's called the "extreme" or something like that. Included halo3 and an extra controller for over $500. I kept looking at it trying to figure out where the HD drive was....it must be there for that price......but no. No HD drive and over $500! What!? No, thank you, I'll stick with my PS3. At that price I'd be more likely to just buy a 2nd PS3 to play my BR movies in the bedroom.

You know the HD-DVD guys knew what they were doing when they paid Paramont off. There sales would of been about 90/10 to Blu-ray about now.
I think Transformers is going to be the top selling HD title to date, Probably by a big margin. I am sure the HD-DVD guys are getting desprite, But the Paramount deal was a very smart move on there part. I don't know how long the war will be going on for, but the Paramount deal made it alot longer.

Does everyone forget that Xbox 360 has the same shitty amount of games as PS3 does now when it was first released? People were saying the same shit about it... all the way until GEoW came out, and PS3 came out and OOOOOh lets diss that.... screw the Wii, no one wants that... hah hah, look at everything now.

A lot longer? I honestly couldn't disagree any more than I already am regarding this statement. They have one, one exclusive title and we have numerous money makers that are all coming to Blu exclusively this year. Do you really think that one title(Yes it's a biggie!) is going to change the tide of this war? It's honestly not going to do anything but give the HD-DVD fanboys something to brag about for one week when we have had one thing after anothe to brag about for months already. Don't worry, with the release of Spiderman you will hear the cries from them a lot louder than you hear the cheering next week.

Oh, for sure, I'm not really ragging on the PS3 or Sony....but since it's already better than the 360 I guess I also expected them to do better on a game release schedule.....I don't think the high mark to shoot for is the lousy bar set by the 360. I was hoping that the PS3 games would do better than that. And notice that I did say that I'd be more likely to buy another PS3 instead of a 360. I don't know yet. If I buy an HDTV for the bedroom then I'll make that decision at that time. Who knows? I could end up buying a standalone BR for the bedroom and no second game console......maybe.....but the PS3 still does so much more.

BTW - I have a wii but only because my girlfriend.....(domestic partner...whatever, we're not married but live together thing you want to call it) wanted it. I have to admit it's fun, but I can only stand to play the games that just wouldn't play the same on the PS3. Like tennis. Now if you asked me to play a FPS on the wii I would laugh at you. No thank you, the PS3 can't be beat in that area....resistance rocks. Halo shmalo. Seen it. Looks nice but I'll stick with resistance. I don't have a ton of time to play but when I do I'm going to do it in HD.

I highly doubt it, unless by HD you mean HD-DVD and not HD movies in general.

In the long run it'll possibly surpass 300 on Blu-ray, but I would be willing to bet Spider-man 3 leapfrogs it in a single week, perhaps even a single day...

I am not too sure about Spiderman 3 leap-frogging over it...

Monetarily it was a success, but in terms of how much people actually enjoyed it, it was a commercial failure...

There were some pretty dumb parts to the movie for sure, but the action sequences were good. I wouldn't actually put Transformers a whole lot ahead of it in terms of enjoyability.

Someone posted in the last couple of days numbers on how many copies Best Buys were getting. It was something like 40-130 copies each of TF, and 90-330 copies each of SM3. I'll see if I can find that post, but clearly Best Buy believes SM3 is going to massively outsell TF.
