Default Martin Logan Dynamo Subwoofer Repair Shots!

It broke in the move back in mid-August, most likely static of some sort when I packaged it, blew the power unit.

Filed the claim w/ ML in mid-September (when I first plugged it in and realized it was broke) - but I didnt receive the new power unit until late-December, by which time I had moved on to my Epik Empire.

I still haven't decided whether I am keeping it as part of my planned upstairs listening room, or selling it, yet. It took me a good 35 minutes, and a good learning experience.

Moment of Truth!

Score!

Back in action.

And, the current state of upstairs.

I was surprised to see no damping or braces of any kind. Which Dynamo is that, the 700 or 1000?

I see. That one appears to be the equivalent of the 700. For the price those sell for I would still have thought the cabinet would be a bit more impressive though. How does it sound (when the amp is working, of course ).

I own a couple of them, nice little subs. I picked them up for around $300 each, when the Dynamo was discontinued. The Dynamo is a sealed( non-ported ) sub. It blends well with just about any speaker. It is good for home theater use( in a small room ), but sounds best with music. If I had to use one word to describe it, it would be finesse.

It is a tiny sub & doesn't have a lot of internal room for too much bracing, but it is very sturdy. From JJ's pics, it looks like they used wedge bracing along the internal seams.

It doesn't have the raw subsonic output I'm getting from my current SVS sub, but I enjoyed it thoroughly when I had it in my bedroom system paired with Paradigm speakers( 2 x Atom Monitor, CC-190, 2 x ADP-190 ).

I just realized I could've put damping in there while I was at it. Groan. Let me open it up again and do it.

Do not underestimate the Dynamo. It was a shellacker of a sub. But again, nothing compares to the current Epik Empire. I never had it used in this place, though.

Finesse is perfect way of putting it. Very musical, detailed. Could hit every note.

If you decide to sell it PM B.Hulk, he seemed interested in mine after I sold it, lol. Or PM me, the buddy that bought mine may want another one.
