received two parcels today one from Germany & the other from the U.K, I know the postage from the U.K is very reasonable but they don't really package these blu's with very much care!
I was charged 12+ euros for one steelbook from Germany to Australia & the packaging was horrible, it was only packaged in a cardboard slipcase & you could tell the parcel had been handled a lot, im surprised the steel wasn't scratched & I tell ya thats the first & last time I order from them, for $$$12+ euros for shipping you would expect them to pack it really well! anyone received damaged blu's from Amazon? |

As for your Amazon DE experience, it's important to remember one thing about Amazon sites. Although they carry the same name they obviously operate in different countries utilising different postal services and so charges vary. Amazon US, UK and Canada operate similarly whereby there is a flat fee charged per shipment then a per item fee on top. Obviously Amazon UK has their free shipping offer at the moment but outside of that their shipping structure is the same (though prices vary a bit). Amazon DE on the other hand is flat rate shipping full stop. No matter how many items you order as long as they are shipping in the same shipment you are charged the same flat rate. That rate is 14 Euros (about $20 AU). Now yes, that is one hell of a lot for one item (though Australia Post charges close to that to send one the other way ![]() As for buying SteelBooks, all I can say is that buying in bulk or with other items is the best way to go. You're likely to get a bigger package or box which potentially means they are better protected. It's not a definite but it certainly improves your chances. |

Yeah no damaged items from Amazon UK,US,GER or JP for me so far in all the years i've been using them. I'm fine with the shipping cost too, except for Amazon US.. I think it can get a bit much.
I recently got a couple of slightly wet boxes, but the contents were fine. Had a couple items never arrive, but the did the second time Amazon sent them. |

Amazon could learn a thing or two from Yes Asia - they also ship for free worldwide and have the best packaging ever for something that is free. They use bubble wrap on individual items, padded bags or boxes, never had any damaged goods from them. I have sent about 4 products back to Amazon that could easily have been avoided if the had bothered to pack it correctly, 1 arrived loose in a box that was 5 times too big for it!

Not damaged per se, but I think every set I've bought from Amazon that came in a box (rather than just the shrink-wrapped plastic cases) has been dinged on at least one corner, some of them fairly badly, all apparently because the packaging wasn't sturdy enough or there wasn't sufficient padding inside to stop the items flopping about. It's a pain, because it's not enough to reasonably justify requesting a replacement (and I've read that Amazon blacklists you if you get too picky), but I'd prefer my new acquisitions not to look battered and badly handled before I've even got to open them. If I were buying them over a counter, I wouldn't happily take goods that had been dinged.
The worst packaging I've yet had from Amazon was one paperback book and one CD dropped in an A3-sized plastic post bag, with no padding of any kind. (I've only seen that happen on this one occasion.) For some strange reason it was sent from NZ - I didn't realise Amazon even had a warehouse there - and the two items had clearly spent the trip flopping around in the bag and smacking into each other. By the time they got delivered the CD case was in shards, the CD scratched to buggery and the front cover and first 20 pages or so had been ground off the book. That shipment got replaced! |

I went 7 years without a damaged item from amazon, yet my last 3 orders have had some form of damage.
But in total agreeance with Adam, amazon has the best customer service around. Every item has been replaced, shipped via express and the last 2 times thyve actually refunded my whole order and replaced said items ![]() An I find if you've spent alot of money with them as I have they really take that extra mile to keep you as a customer. I've had vouchers and all kinds of things offered to me the last couple of complaints. I've never dealt with a more customer Orientated company. |

yes I know what you mean, today received my lost blu-ray box set & it was just packed in a box with some brown paper over the box set to fill up the box. Pretty bad packaging.

The previous Am.US order (about six months back) took just over nine weeks to arrive !! I think there might have been something a bit odd in Amazon's despatch of that one, because they kept stalling me on even discussing whether it might have been lost, almost as if they knew it was going to take a long time for some reason. Not sure, it was all a bit strange. But it did finally turn up, and in good nick, so all was well. Eventually. |

Yeah, sometimes I think there's just the luck of some kind of draw involved in how often deliveries take to show up. I've taken note of where Amazon packages I've received have been despatched from, and they're all over the place (Germany, South Africa, Mexico, Canada, several US locations, Spain, Luxembourg ... once even from NZ, which was weird, because I had no idea Amazon would have any kind of warehouse there), regardless of which Amazon I've shopped from. I'm guessing it depends on which Amazon warehouse has the ordered items in stock, but then I imagine it's often just a matter of how soon there's some free space on a cargo plane.

just an update regarding this order from Amazon (Germany) I originally decided to keep this film sealed (Tron), I changed my mind so I opened it up this morning only to find there was a small dent (front), gee it made me upset!!!
unfortunaley it's been a few weeks since I received this order & I don't speak German anyway, so now I am stuck with this steelbook, it's a real shame considering it's such a nice steelbook, anyways thats my first & last order from amazon.de ![]() |

Type your message, select German and voila - paste it into their contact us box. It's easy to find as it's the same setup as Amazon UK. As for the timeframe, being a couple of weeks won't be an issue. They'll fix it up for you. |
