OK. I have finally configured (without much help from their forum btw...no one really wanted to help there) my XBMC Media Server for my HTPC!
I have to say this is the most amazing media server i've ever seen or used!!! It automatically downloaded the IMDB ratings...cover art, and metadata information for each movie and TV Show. I have 500 BluRay rips and over 60 full seasons of tv shows on my HTPC (14 gigs are present) and although I can just use media player or whatever this is the coolest Media Server around! A few tips if you're trying to set this up though. First, make sure your MKV or DIVX/XVID movie files are in each root directory of the movie folder on your hard drive. Second, to make it easier make sure you check to ON "use folder names to look up in database" or whatever it is so you can more easily populate your information and movie covers. This way you don't have to rename every MKV file or DIVX file. Third, if a movie does not get the information, you can highlite it and hit "I" for information, then refresh and do a manual look up...which makes it easier. fourth, changing the skins is not as easy as it seems, but if you download the RAR file then you can install from that rar rather than unzipping it as that doesn't work. I just thought I'd share what I've found and I hope others will benefit from this. If you have an HTPC I HIGHLY suggest getting this FREE Media Player Here's an example of what it can look like ![]() |
