More Hammer classics announced!

...The partnership continues throughout the spring for the releases of The Reptile and The Plague of The Zombies, and will also include The Devil Rides Out, Rasputin the Mad Monk and The Mummy’s Shroud during the course of the year.

Hammer will also release definitive versions of a trio of famous titles in the U.K.:*The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula and The Mummy.

That's what I call GOOOOOD news!

People talk about Hammer classics when talking about films that arn't classics at all (esp. the 70's stuff), but...The Curse Of Frankenstein, Dracula, & The Mummy, now these films are the real thing. Great news.

Very conspicuous by their absence in the restoration partners.

All this plus Countess Dracula, Twins Of Evil and Hands Of The Ripper from Synapse. It's going to be a great year for Hammer releases it looks.

Part of the problem there is that the transfers they'd done for their 8 film dvd set were destroyed in the fire they had a couple years back. The ones showing on TCM nowadays are new and look a bit different than they did on the dvds. I doubt Universal is willing to spring for the cash needed to them correctly (let alone release them on bd). Which is completely sad and frustrating.

Perhaps if the Classic Horrors perform well Universal may consider it. If not, they do seem willing to license out so hopefully they'd consider it for the Hammers.

Curse of the Werewolf has been released by Final Cut in the UK but instead of a BD, we're getting a second DVD release in as many years. The Japanese DVD released last year also boasts as being a HD remaster so who knows which master is being used for these.

Not related to Hammer films,but i would LOVE to see Vincent Price horror collection released on Blu,too (Theater of Blood,The Masque of the Red Death,The Abominable Dr. Phibes House off Usher, Twice-Told Tales,The Raven,etc)

Hammer and StudioCanal will restore more than 30 Hammer titles. First up is 'Dracula - Prince of Darkness' coming March 5th. It has been scanned i 4K and restored in 2K.

February will see a world premiere of the restored print of 'Dracula' which includes the scenes found in a japanese archive last year:

Finally, and for long-time Hammer fans maybe most importantly, we can exclusively announce that Hammer’s forthcoming “definitive” version of Terence Fisher’s 1958 Gothic masterpiece DRACULA will receive a WORLD PREMIERE SCREENING on Saturday 18th February at 3pm at the flicker club as part of the VAULT festival in London. Tickets will be available online here and will go on sale soon.

Recently-discovered footage that was originally cut from the British version has been restored by Molinare to the BFI’s wonderful 2007 restoration courtesy of The National Film Center at The Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. The Japanese footage features an extended and particularly gruesome death scene for Dracula, as well as a moment considered too erotic by the censors of the day.

I know StudioCanal's track record of restoring catalogue titles is somewhat of a hit-and-miss regarding their use of DNR, but going by their recent restoration of 'Quatermass and the Pit', this could end up really good.

I know StudioCanal's track record of restoring catalogue titles is somewhat of a hit-and-miss regarding their use of DNR, but going by their recent restoration of 'Quatermass and the Pit', this could end up really good.

Canal's treatment of the recent Ealing Comedies was also very good. Hopefully this bodes well for future releases.
