Many of us are willing to spend the extra money when it comes to movie that comes with a bonus disc of special features vs. a standalone movie.
Having said that, why aren't soundtracks considered as bonus items? With The Artist getting a release soon, I'm sure most of us would be willing to pay extra if there was a version that included the soundtrack. Or, how about any film that John Williams has scored. Jaws is coming out later this year, if it came down to buying the movie or getting the movie and soundtrack packaged together, I bet most would choose the latter, assuming that it's reasonably priced of course. I'm sure The Breakfast Club would be a big seller if there were a movie + soundtrack version available. Sure, you wouldn't get the CD jewel case for the soundtrack, but that doesn't matter to me. Hell, I'd be happy if it were a flipper. |
