Default DVE BD worth it?

I already have a copy of Avia (SD, obviously) that I've used for my calibrations. Now that DVE is coming out with a calibration disc on BD, I'm wondering if it will provide me with much that my Avia disc already hasn't. I'm a novice as far as calibration goes . . . I don't mess with service menus or any of that stuff, I know to leave things alone that I know little about. So I'm going to be using the basic adjustments the set allows. Is this really going to offer me a vast improvement over Avia? I'm thinking it wouldn't really give me much except a click up or down here or there off of what I already have. Any input on this? I will eventually get an ISF calibration, but that's down the road, so the suggestion is already noted and penciled into the plans for sometime in the (hopefully) near future.

Avia is designed for NTSC. This new disc is designed for HD. Colorspaces for example are radically different.

One of the people whose response I was looking for. So for 20 bucks I'm assuming you'd recommend the purchase? I've always found that on my DLP, the settings for contrast and color were kind of vague when I was adjusting, compared to my CRT projo. Would DVE offer a more "solid" adjustment?

This says the DVE BD has been delayed to early 2008.

Thanks for the link. This is a major bummer. I had plans for helping friends tune their setups for optimum holiday viewing. Most of my friends won't see the value in profesional calibration until the can be shown what how some basic tuning can improve any setup.

Hopefully this is incorrect info from hidefdigest. The artcle says "DVD International, Kane's distributor, says all versions of 'HD Basics' have been pushed back "until sometime early next year," with no new firm date set", but a friend of mine at work has had a copy of the HD DVD version for about a month.

The article also says "With no new date in sight for 'HD Basics,' we've moved the title to the "Release Dates Postponed" section of both our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule.". Sounds strange that they are reporting both versions are pushed back but my friend has his HD DVD version and a guy on AVS is asking questions about his that he received in April.http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=836787

They released it as a combo disc earlier this year on HD DVD with the usual massive defects. This is a non-combo and improved version over that one

Don't forget about the test patterns on Sony Blu-ray discs.

In addition some sets have different memories for HD and SD input signals. That means that in order to calibrate HD with an SD DVD you'd need to upscale first at the very least.
